I've said all along I'd love for Jesse to put an entire omelette on my face but sadly I just don't see it happening.
Jessie might be an absolute genius with an IQ through the roof but as a footballer......he is at the lower end of the scale.

I just honestly don't think that on form this season Lewis is an automatic, obvious inclusion over Jesse if it's to play the same backup ruck/forward role. I'll definitely be cheering Lewis on, and I hope he has an absolute blinder (and for all we know Tommy is going to be backup so it's more "try something new" than anything else).
I'm not right on the Jesse bandwagon or anything but I too, struggle to understand why LRT's an automatic selection. LRT might be smarter but their numbers are very similar - don't think there's much between them in the 2nd ruck/forward role. People will claim that LRT is more versatile and can go to the backline but he really hasn't played any footy there since he got injured in 2010.

So we're basically going in with about 3 half ruckmen?

If Pyke plays any sort of game this week I suspect all questions will be answered.

There have been senior players playing on reputation for the last two years! Earn their place I doubt it! If you are there it is harder to move you than it is to move an Australian cricketer! We have some passengers at the moment and most are not admitting it as they are senior players who we all respect!
So what happens if that lower team beats you. Are we that good that we can rest 2 or 3 players good players against Melbourne? I am absolutely perplexed by the way as to why Walsh got the nod ahead of Morton.

If as you say, selection should be based only on form, Reid shouldn't be in the team either.

LRT was a key reason we won the Freo game.

No doubt we are really frustrated by Jesse as are the coaching staff. Just a thought why doesn't the club utilise Dermott Brereton to teach White the art of playing like forward. I saw a clip in which he was tutoring Izzy Folou at GWS training. Maybe he may get the message across for no doubt he has that potential.

I think you certainly could make that argument. I'm not trying to suggest it should be on form only, but it has to be a consideration.

I thought he was good in that game, too- but I think you could then also argue his ruckwork was a reason we lost against Adelaide?

I'm not trying to suggest that Lewis has been awful all season, I do like the guy- watching him run around makes me feel like I've got double value for my ticket price, entry to the footy AND to el Cabalo Blanco! I'm just saying I don't get why he appears to be an automatic inclusion over Jesse this season in the role, I'm not sure how much of a difference it normally makes but I would have thought that if we go with Pyke as first ruck this weekend then we might have wanted to opt for the better ruckman as backup as there's a chance they'll have to spend a bit more time doing it/we might need to fall back on them.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

So we should play as many kids as possible against melbourne? If that were to happen, and we lost, there would be blood. That sort fo behaviour reeks of arrogance and a lack of respect for an opponent that, whilst hasn't done much to deserve any respect this year, is still a team capable of beating us on their day. Particularly if we're playing every one of Wolfies favourites from the ressies. There are no, i repeat NO, gimme games in the AFL. If you go in with an attitude of arrogance and fail to pay your opponents any respect, you will be pushing your luck, as well as providing your opponent with some dangerous ammunition.

What's the bet our recruiting staff are already checking out KPP/Ruck combo players of 195-200 cms for next year's draft? Mind you, us and probably 17 other clubs, well except for maybe West Coast....

Walsh has played better football than Morton and thoroughly deserves his chance.

Morton needs to prove he can do it when the going is a ltitle tougher, i would imagine. Not just when its all going his way. I think Walsh, from what I've read, has been one of the most consistent ressiesp layers this year. He hasnt consistently appeared in the best list anyway...

So list management isnt a part of our game? So you and Al both say that Chris Scott,Brett Ratten etc all have no idea and resting players is a joke? If you dont move with the times you get left behind,if we cant beat Melbourne missing one or two senior playersa then we are just also rans and making up numbers. It was only a couple of weeks ago we were flying and even after the loss to the crows no-one was worried now you and others think we are that bad we will lose to Melbourne at home if say Mcveigh got rested? What a load of @@@@e,people need to think ahead and man management is the way of the top young coaches who have studied its affects overseas.

Personally i dont want to make finals then have every other team run rings around us because we were too frigging old fashioned or bull headed to know thats players games need to be managed over the WHOLE seasopn we are already 4 or so games behind in resting guys compared to some clubs,it doesnt need to be wholesale changes just a steady rotation every game.
