My mind was focused on that last quarter against the Kangaroos at the SCG back in August 2004. IF we had lost we would have got the "distinction" of being on the receiving end of the two greatest 4th quartet comebacks in history! (remember St Kilda 1994?). As it turns out its our first win against a top 8 Bombers side in Melbourne in 23 years.

hahahahahaha ESSENDUDS. their fans are true flogs. my god i couldnt believe the umpiring! everytime their fans booed the got a free kick. the amount of free kicks we should have got was ridiculous. Nonetheless so happy we won..how sweet to get revenge on this lot who i bloody hate

I think we really found a player in Armstrong tonight. He's a perfect foul for Shaw off half back... and he's a great user of the ball. I also really like Everitt's game off the wing, although he was still a bit iffy in some contests.

The Pyke/ Mumford combo seems to be working ok, but that may well change when Mummy's time in the middle increases.

I think our best team at this stage (all fit and healthy) is:

        Out:
        Everitt, Pyke, ??

        In:
        Goodes, Parker, McGlynn
        Sanford Wheeler 4 President!

Also would just like to happily eat my words about everitt; he played a good game as far as I saw and it will be tough to negate who makes way for goodes and any other fit players coming back.

The boys started the bye early.

I was watchin the game on my big telly in my man cave and I was thinkin if there was an exercise to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory then the Swans were going to do it.

We nearly set two records in the night.

The penalty count was 23 to 13 and 6 to 1 in that final quarter.

However if you look at the stats for the second half and the game in general, the Bombers clearly should have one on them alone.

Didn't think the boys could do it but they had to play like that to do it.

Nothin like a last quarter and 47 point lead to the Swans to get the blood racing.

That could be the most important win of the season as it gets us up for final four contention in the run home.

Would have loved to be sitting next to their cheer squad at full time. Especially after the way they carried on against GWS.

If you're gonna beat the bumbers, a sniff of victory and a 4 point what if loss, is the sweetest way to do it.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Armstrong was brilliant tonight. Offered so much off half back. Very happy!

Losing that game would have been very hard to swallow... thanks for not allowing it to happen, especially Jack, Jetta, straight kickin Sam, Shaw and the rest ... would have awful going into the bye... well done boys.

ha - I was thinking of north's game too in between counting my pulse. So much relief out there in Swans's land

I really don't know how to respond to that game.

Before it started I was mentally preparing myself for a bad loss, rationalising that we had some key players missing.

Halfway through the 2nd quarter I was calling myself an arsehole for doubting this committed, balanced, WEAPON of a team that was playing beautiful footy.

At 3/4 time I was daydreaming about how pretty our percentage was going to look and preparing to revel in the massive fallout. How good would it be seeing the rabid Dons fans loose their minds? Umpire obsessed @@@@wits.

Halfway though the last I was thinking 'stop trying to @@@@ with me Sydney!!' *Angry grumble grumble*

10 minutes to go and I was ready to slit my wrists.

5 minutes to go and I was mentally preparing to lose and thinking 'there is no rational explanation for this level of ineptitude!'

THAT mark 1 sec before the siren and I realised the cruel irony.

Now at the end of the game, I think I'm just relieved. It wasn't the best way to end, but 4 points is 4 points in more ways than one.

We missed Hannebery after he went off. Mal tried but it wasn't the same.
Also what happened to Pyke in the last quarter? Mummy was absolutely stuffed and we saw LRT in the ruck - should never happen.
And can anyone tell me what the 50 metre penalty was for?
But a great effort from the team to hang on (just!) when out on their feet. At the legends lunch yesterday they had a raffle: 4th prize was a heart monitor - would have gone off the scale and busted tonight.
And the umpiring was pretty ordinary tonight - thank goodness they got the last decision right.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Parker is gone for 6-8 weeks, and not sure if Goodes will be right for the Cats game.

                                Love, Me.
Sure they can! The umpies gave em an armchair ride into that last quarter. We couldn't buy a free from em even though our boys were getting belted around the head most of the game. 23-13 free kicks for the game - what a joke.

That said, what a heart stopper! Look at all the stats and it comes back to Bombers woeful accuracy - from 2.15 for three quarters to 9.1 for the last, with the result there for all to see! Oh well, on every measure except the one that counts (the scoreboard) we probably lose that game! Squares up for the game they blew against the Crows I guess - even down the fact the game was live to the very last second! Gotta love our boys hey! The game was played at breakneck pace (not exactly our preferred style), so to come away with a win, whatever the circumstances, is bluddy awesome!

How great was it to see Dempsey play on! Thank heavens there are no countdown clocks at AFL grounds!
