28 - 29 in January next year
He'll be 30 before he's playing "Swans" footy. Too old.
Goddard's 27 (28 in May), may be just too old, but I'd take him. Always liked him. He's had a tough year this year. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

He's relatively old and an inside mid. He's got ability; his season last year was quality, but nevertheless his approach to this year after losing the vice-captaincy and a place in the leadership group is questionable.
Honestly I wouldn't mind taking him, but I'm finding it hard to see his place in the midfield. Is this the club anticipating Jude's departure?!
I would much prefer Tippett, but his value is sky high for a decent, but not brilliant key forward. Further, Adelaide has more to gain from the GC or Brisbane. Our team full of rejects, rookies and odd-balls hasn't got much in terms of trade bait.
Goddard is an interesting proposition. From the outside looking in he seems incredibly attached to the Saints, but the way he is playing now reminds me of the way Goodesy is going. Trying hard, almost too hard to get himself in the game, but completely unable to be influential. I think he could benefit from a change, but I don't think he's going to leave tbh.Comment

Goddard hasn't re-signed yet so either GWS or us would be very possible.
There will be lots of room in the salary cap when Moore retires and Jesse and Meredith go.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

Actually, I think we did pay overs for Jesse. I remember he had a couple of blinders at FF just before Gold Coast came online and we thought he was going to be our messiah. I had to lock him in pretty quickly and he has done nothing since. I think if we keep hi it will be on a big reduction.Comment

I don't want Maloney and I definitely wouldn't want Goddard either.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

I think he'd be an excellent fit for our midfield. We lack for an explosive clearance player, especially at centre bounces. Kennedy is excellent at winning the ball and feeding it out, but he doesn't provide that explosiveness out of the middle. Goodes can but usually only when the ball is palmed in his direction - he doesn't tend to win it off the ground, or in heavy congestion. Jack has the explosiveness, but I think he is better at around the ground contests, rather than centre bounces.
Regardless of how this year pans out, I think this year's performances warrant the club doing what it thinks it needs to do to win a premiership in the next season or two, while we still have Goodes, ROK and Bolton. There is enough improvement still potentially to come from the likes of Parker, Reid, Johnson, Jetta and Rohan (and hopefully Mitchell) for us to think we can stay with the likes of Adelaide, West Coast et al as they also improve, and hopefully a short neck ahead of North and Richmond.
Moloney wouldn't cost anything at the trade table, probably wouldn't cost a huge amount salary cap wise, as I suspect he is after first grade opportunities in a decent side, after several years of the Dees struggling. At his best he is a super player and could have two or three good to very good years left in him.Comment

Would be a perfect fit for us I reckon.
Putting aside what you would have to pay for him, why would anyone not want Goddard?Bloods
