No-one is suggesting that Goodes goes into the backline, I was simply pointing out that he is more versatile than BLT. As a caveat, he was playing on one knee when he was in the backline and had the turning circle of the QE2. More than capable of playing as a defender, just not how he is best utilised for us at the moment.

LRT was just superb. A healthy stint up forward meant that he was reading the game down back better than anyone else except maybe Ted who was nearly my BOG.

We can all agree, well nearly all, that LRT is a very versatile and valuable player. We should be prepared to use him more flexibly, like we have for so many years with Goodes. Both WCE and Collingwood are big tall teams. I think using LRT in defence against these taller teams is a good idea. He would be more valuable helping to shut down someone like Cloke, Dawes and Goldstein, for instance, than playing a defensive forward, for which we have many options. The good thing about our defence is that players like AJ can play on smaller players, so we can take a taller back six into a game without looking out of whack.
