    Home preliminary vs collingwood

How huge would that be ?

We'd be able to finally put the "full house" sign up an ANZ.

And although the pies have beaten us a lot lately, I'd love to play them in a prelim. I think they are fading, and what better place to end the hoodoo.

When they beat us, again, five weeks ago I consoled myself by hoping we'd play them in the finals and finally end the hoodoo when it really mattered. The Pies appear to be in a form slump and our boys will be on a high. At home, with a GF at stake, with even the law of averages on our side, I reckon we'll do it.

I can see I'm going to be a wreck for the next 2 weeks. I hope that the three teams who have to sort it out on our side of the finals equation just belt the crap out of each other and and we give the sole survivor a right touch up in the prelim.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Good point. Hopefully it will be the Pies - they will be buggered from the week before. It is so exciting!!!

Yesterday's results show that the teams that the 'experts' pick don't always make it thru. On one hand I want us to play Collingwood but on the other I would be happy not to face them again this year....

Yes, let's hope they get beat next week as that would be a double, no that would be a triple/quadruple bonus. We wouldn't have to play them, our recruiters can start to arrange Cloke signing on with us for next season and we can see the last of Buckleys/Eddie's face for this year :-)

I think Dermie was spot on yesterday when he said all the teams that have played finals so far have looked tired, I think the week off is huge. I hope Collingwood get through and for us to break our losing srteak in a final...how good would that be Knocking Collingwood out off a prelim...

                Cheers

I'm really hoping for the Pies. My 'Wheel of Fate' premiership fantasy is:

                  - knock over Adelaide at AAMI (check),
                  - pick off the Pies at ANZ (please)
                  - do to an over-confident Hawthorn what they did to Geelong in 08.

The footy gods will love it.

I think there would be one or two people on here that might enjoy it also....

I`d personally love to see WC get through so we can thump them in a Home prelim by 60 odd points. That`d wipe the grins off their faces...

We had 65,000 against Fremantle in a Preliminary Final at ANZ and one against North Melbourne would draw that at least, if not more.

So no, the AFL would not care less who we played there.

Nah I dont believe so. Build up and opponent plays a big part. Plus the finals pricing for the prelim is steep.

I'd say the attendances would be something like:

                            - north = 55-60k
                            - west coast = 60-65k
                            - pies = 70-75k

Pies have the best travelling support probably out of all the clubs and alot of the reason why we had 55k plus in many of the ANZ encounters with them is because of their fans. If they made it there'd be 10-15,000 coming up.

Yep probably closer to the mark.

The embarrassment against north (admittedly not a prelim) last time we played them in a final at homebush will have the afl barracking for the eagles/pies.
