Horse confirms, in press speak talk, that it will be Reg for Ben. But the speculation is still fun. Wonder how hard the guys will push at training? You wouldn't want to injure yourself this week. No jinx intended.

      Morton 'a chance'?

Sorry but Mitch HAS TO PLAY. Hes the most nick Davis like x-factor type player we have and can be the man to blow a game open.

Could not agree with this more. He was very competitive against Crows.

Just make AAMI an unplayable field so the Storm/Manly game needs to be played at ANZ and the Swans/Pies will then need to play at SCG..... 2005 all over again.
Although I don't think Swans fans hearts could take that again!

i don't understand anyone suggesting dropping Morton for Spang. Not just because Morton played well against the Crows, but also because that would leave us with a forward line of potentially Reid, Goodes, Spangher, LRT, and either Pyke or Mummy. I'm all for watching the big blokes fly, but it would be a VERY top heavy forward line considering we wouldn't even have Benny to crumb it.

Interesting contrast between us and the Pies.

If as seems likely Dawes isn't fit, their selection problem is they've run out of talls. Plus they're down a tall defender (Maxwell).

We're getting a tall defender back and trying to figure out how to fit him in, or rather, fit in both LRT and Morton. We're down a small forward (McGlynn).

Our problem is more the 'pleasant headache' whereas they face being seriously undermanned, but still plenty of opportunity to really screw up.

I think most likely is we'll keep it simple and play Reg for McGlynn, with the additional aim of stretching their backline. We love kicking to forward contests and Maxwell is usually the one who plays third man up, so this could be a winner.

But we would be going in pretty tall, even by Horse's tall-infatuated standards. So surely the only possible in would be TDL. But Morton played his role to perfection last week - it would be cruel to drop him. If not him it would be most likely Parker, but we need his toughness around the ball, plus of course he's also done nothing wrong.

So I'm predicting the status quo.

The other curly one is who gets the vest. Not Parker again I'd hope - he needs the run. Maybe we put Morton on the bench as impact player.

I can't see the logic in Morton being the sub. They don't really have a great match up for him and I can see him causing the Pies defense some problems. He's capable in the air, but quite agile at ground level and quick on the lead. They'll probably have to go with O Brien on him, which will limit his ability to go third man up and stand In the hole. I think Mal will have to be the sub, Parker needs to start, probably up forward to apply pressure and crumb in Mcglynns role. I can't see any other logical choice for the sub.

Agree totally, need to make Harry O accountable, both Parker & Morton can do that. Only worriy about Parker is game time in recent weeks, but having said that he should be fresh. I can't see TDL coming in for Morton.

The main thing we must do up forward is be accountable, and make the Pies defenders accountable. We can't let them have a loose man all night, nor can we let players like Harry O'Brien be able to rebound. If we stop them being able to rebound out of defence (so successful for them against us over the last few years), we force them to get goals by creating from close in, contested footy. They really struggled to get goals out of their forwards last week, and if are able to tie them down in terms of moving the ball quickly, the game will be played on our terms. Do that, and we will run over the top of them.

Mal as sub is an interesting one and would not suprise me. I agree that Parker may well start up front to help create pressure. We need to put them under immense pressure, so that like Adelaide, like Hawthorn in the 1st quarter and a half at the SCG, like Hawthorn earlier in the year, and a few other games, they start to percieve pressure and make silly mistakes.

Morton "a chance" ?! Come on! Was one of our most dangerous players last week- we need a real forward.

I agree Morton should play. Sam Reid is our real forward though in combination with Lewis, Jude and Luke Parker.

I would actually play Parker as a specialist sub for the prelim and GF (if we make it).

                              Agree.

Losing hard match fitness would not be a consideration now. The only downside would be if we copped an early injury in the GF and Parks had to come on and play a near full game after a month on the subs bench. Worth the risk because we don't have any standouts for the vest. Please not Morton...

EDIT: Every Thursday has been as frustrating as hell waiting for 6:30 to get the teams. This afternoon will be the worst...

With McGlynn out and Morton's game in Adelaide there is no way know he could be sub. Maybe Jetts??
