We are the Champions My Friends, We'll Keep on Fighting Till the END! How true of our blokes! Let us be humble in victory. The Hawks fans are hurting right now and we all know how that feels, 2006. But I know for one that I am enjoying the moment. I agree it was a year or two ahead of plan. I'm sure the coaches didn't think this would happen at the start of the year, even half way through. I think the players really started to believe when we beat Adelaide so well and spanked Pies! This is HEAVEN!!!!
By the way just want to say all of our players were resplendent but I want to give a few plaudits;
Mikey Pykie; Bloody brilliant good on you boy you were fantastic!
Dan Hannaberry; What courage and played the game of your life
Nick Smith; Smithy well done you did a real job on Cyril and attacked in return
AJ; Bloody hell what do you say, to pull that sort of game out in a GF bloody hell
Teddy; Such courage to play through the pain barrier
Goodsie; Again such courage to play with that sort of pain. I have a torn meniscus so I know half the pain you endured
Bolts; Same as Goodsie
Mitch Morton; Very much maligned but you produced your best when it counted, welcome to the Bloods!
Mummy; For playing through pain and restricted movement
There were so many stars on the day I only wished to thank these blokes because of special circumstances. Hannas had to be unlucky ROK had such a great day out as he was so close to the Norm! The half backs are so unheralded and play well every week. The others are obvious. Also Jetts who was injured in the end but still managed to cut a Hawks attack off.Last edited by wolftone57; 30 September 2012, 11:58 AM.Comment

The programming people at Foxtel must have expected the Hawks to win the flag - they are currently broadcasting a game titled 'Premier's Qualifying Final' which is followed by the Preliminary and then the GF - however, the first game is the Hawks' win over Collingwood!
Against all expectations (even after the fact in this case) the Swans triumph.Comment

Been thinking cause I can't get enough of all this unmitigated happiness...we beat the other 3 top four, who had each beaten us at our last start, with several walking wounded! Did you notice how it seemed to be our day because (for the first time I can remember) the bounce did not cruel us (at least that I can remember). Every time one of those "which way will it go balls" came toward one of our blokes it somehow was kind to us. Can't say the same for the umps...but who cares now!Comment

Grand Final - CARN THE BLOODS!
Yeah, same here. Sat next to quite a few Swans supporters who came alone. Everyone was very friendly. However one Swans fan let the game get to him. He was cursin with the f-word, would have told him that it was a family event.. except he had kids with him :/ awkward!Comment

Funniest thing I saw at the airport this morning was i think it was Longmires better hlaf, who was put in charge of looking after the premiership cup for the flight home, doing so by carrying it in around in a big krispy kremes bag!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Did you see Rhyce Shaw? Someone on the swans facebook said he had to literally be carried through the airport hahaI See It But I Don't Believe It!!!!Comment

Went to the reception at Lake Side today, then to the airport. Home now and reading all the papers drinking my cuppa out of my Premiers mug. I feel so good and the best bit was my Dad, who turned 83 on Wednesday & had spinal surgery only four weeks ago, was able to make it to the game with us. The tears in his eyes and smile on his face at the final siren were precious.
Thank you Swans..... you did yourselves proud.Comment

A late post on the game from me. Home pretty late last night. Great win by a team that again did not have a passenger. To have so many match injuries and still triumph was legendary stuff.
Hats off to Malceski after a form slump and I for one thought that he had been playing soft footy. Reinvented himself in the second half of the season and played tough, hard footy. I was up the Punt road end and Alex Johnson's second quarter was special. He kept his eyes on the footy and read the play superbly. Mind you LRT's last quarter was pretty good as was Sam Reid's last quarter.Comment

Folks, that feeling of exhileration when the siren goes and you instantly go into raptures is hard to match. For much of the game I think most people react like they do at any game, but when the lady behind me said there was 34 seconds to go when Mal nailed that goal the feelings and emotions went haywire in anticipation of the siren.Comment
