Sad to see all three leave. Still regretting that spangher didnt dob that first goal against gold coast - that would have been something to have remembered him by.

All three I reckon can play league footy but some interesting trades - what will spangher's role be at hawthorn given lake, gibson, schoenmakers in the backline and roughhead and buddy up front. hard to see it other than depth. Likewise TDL who i do like is going to one the club with more small forwards than anywhere else. But he might get a good run from his old coach. Heath I think has the best opportunities - port has cleared out (or had some leave of their own choice) its back half and he is clearly ready to be playing firsts and not NEAFL.

Good luck and thanks for all the efforts.

Five picks at the ND at present but I don't know how we'll cope with even a few injuries in 2013. Assume there is a strategy to all this and we have our eye on some mature recruits we expect to be available between picks 46 and 67.

The Tippett affair has stuffed us around big time.
I think we will still make a play for Tippett and we may have our eyes on another delisted player.

Yes they are. I was referring to the 2nd part of your post about the minimum 3 being reduced.

          Underwhelming.
          Really underwhelming.
I think the Tippett saga caused all sorts of issues with our trading stategy.

In any case, I wish those that have found new homes long and successful careers.

The 4 players we moved on were unlikely to be any value to us in the future. The fact that we were able to trade players was a bonus.

Didn't explain myself that well. The minimum 3 I referred to included Seaby and Moore in my thinking.

Take another look at our list. We've got plenty of depth. I still think we have a number of good or developing senior list players that will struggle to get games next year. You can't have too many of these, as they will want to be traded if we can't offer them senior games. We will want to see guys like Mitchell, Lamb, Armstrong, Walsh, Everett and even White getting some senior games next year.

so we gave away 2 reserves defenders and a soft forward.none will be greatly missed.swans probably redraft lynch as a future defender.
the whole tippet deal stinks, now the crows may be left with a guy who doesn't want to be there or he goes to the draft and prices himself above what lions are prepared to spend.

Oh well, let's see what we can get done in the drafts.
None of those traded were ever able to deliver consistently, so we've lost some wildcards with TDL and Spang, and depth with Campbell Heath, but I don't think we've reduced our capacity to win, as such.

PLUS, I am expecting (hoping) Lamb, Cunningham and Mitchell to take up some of that slack. Jesse is definitely a question mark, but if he actually "gets it" at some point, there is no reason he can't be as good as Tippett. (Big if, true...)

I don't think we're in any trouble at all, yet, but drafts ARE a bit of a lottery.

(And then there's Armstrong, Walsh, Everitt...)

                        I think we're down to 34 and 2.
TDL, Spanky traded from main (Heath was a rookie).
Seaby and Moore delisted from main (Kruger, Lynch and McNeil were rookies)
                        So 4 senior spots available.

                          Reads right to me.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Aren't senior lists 40 next year (ie the outside veteran / nominated rookie concepts have just been rolled into the main list)?

Hadn't heard that, we had 44 this year (38 senior and 6 rookies).

I think it's 40 on the senior list, 4 on Rookie List Category A and 3 on Rookie List Category B
