That was how I first noticed him. I was at a Dee's versus someone game at the MCG and a fan sitting behind me kept yelling out "Go Master" and I had absolutely no idea who he was talking about so in the end I had to ask, then to my embarrassment, had to ask why he was called that
suffice to say, I'm not to quick on the uptake!
Anyway, said Melbourne member was a huuuuuuuuge Bate fan and wished his teammates gave as much.Comment

So you talked about how good it was to Master Bate with your excited Melbourne member? That was how I first noticed him. I agree Di.......but I was actually thinking that he could become a very exciting HB flanker
Shaw went from a more traditional wing role to playing a dominant attacking role from our HBF..........great change by Malthouse at the Pies re Davis also to switch roles in 2011
I think Reimers could do it and although he wouldnt make the backline in 2013 he certainly would pop up in the 22 in 2013 and be ready for 2014 !
It is rare we will be as lucky as 2012 re injuries........so depth will be tested and that running HBF role is crucial given Shaw will be 32yrs young next year !"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Auntie.G - I feel I should point out that I am of the masculine persuasion - see the info underneath my name.
Otherwise, interesting thoughts about Reimers. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Indeed yes, if we're down to the 35th player on our list the season would be in deep trouble, but I think some of us had a less extreme situation. We may have another great run with injuries, but perhaps we should look for a little bit of insurance in the form of a more mature body in area's where our depth is thinish? You would imagine that there were attempts to trade most of those players, but nothing materialised. All the teams seem to be thinking more or less the same: Why keep a player on your list when they have little chance of making the seniors next year? As far a depth is concerned, if you're getting down to playing your 35th best player due to injuries, your season is in deep trouble anyway, and you're probably going nowhere. So why not give yourself a chance of getting another fresh face and see what happens.Comment
