Sound on my computer not working this morning, so I can't listen to it.
Oh my heavens that was heart wrenching to listen to and how very true that the kids injected seem to be the forgotten ones in this whole sorry saga.
Not meaning to sound callous or make light of the situation but I wonder what thoughts are going through the minds of Joe Daniher and his father Anthony about their final choice of club, seeing as Joe was one of very, very few players in this game that actually had a choice .

Absolutely heart wrenching.
Funny enough, I tweeted last night I wondered if Anthony Daniher was sitting at home wishing he had advised Joe to go to Sydney. Somebody replied that it's unfortunate that Joe was not a year younger as it would seem likely he would be choosing Sydney if he was making a choice right at the minute.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
Heavy stuff and heart-breaking to hear as a parent. I wonder whether Essendon and its board could be the subject of a Safe Work Australia action under the WHS Act for not guaranteeing a safe workplace?

Interesting thought DK.
The 3M interview was hard to listen to, and impossible to turn away from. That poor woman is stressed to the inth degree, and it is difficult to comprehend what the forgotten ones, the families and the players, are going through, but this gives an inkling.
Recommend anyone who is even not interested to check it out. It puts a lot of things into perspective and its not doing Essendon any favours. Hope the kids find a way.
If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhood
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
The ramifications for the Essendon players is devastating. Since there is no time limit on ASADA's ability to charge players with drug infractions, I cannot see how any of the 38 players under suspicion can move to another club, via trade or otherwise, as the new club would be assuming the risk that the player could be facing a 2 year ban. So effectively, the entire 2012 Essendon player list is frozen from movement to other clubs.
During the discussion of Mummy possibly being traded, I thought about us giving (Teddy's mate) David Hille a one year contract as a backup to cover if Pyke got injured. But now, with the possibility Hille could be charged for taking AOD-9604 or Thymosin Beta4 and getting suspended, how could we or any club take that risk.
Essendon also face a huge financial risk of players suing for damages, especially if suspended. Even though they signed consent forms, it was not an informed consent, since Essendon did not disclose that the substances given were WADA banned. We are talking about 10s of millions of dollars. I don't know if the Essendon supporters will be willing to cough up that sort of dough.
It would seem from the evidence presented that Hird believed that other clubs had 'supplement' programs and that Essendon needed to close the gap. Where did this AFL insider (Hird) get this impression. Was he simply delusional, or is there something to this? How many clubs are pushing the boundaries in this area.
For the good of the game, the door has to be well and truly shut on this pharmacological experimentation. Maybe supplements of any type should be banned. Why can't players just eat normal food like the rest of us?
There has to be severe punishment dished out, but the last thing footy needs is another dysfunctional club, at least until the Demons can extract themselves from their mire. Essendon is such an important club for the competition, it is a same that a few people can bring down both the club and footy to such an extent. It is particularly sad for the competition's top teams, like the Swans, to have the focus deflected away from the run for the premiership.

Was discussing this exact point with a person from work today. We should be talking about the Port Adelaide revival, the Richmond finals return and the Swans top 4 finish with so many injuries, but no, all we have is Essendon, bloody Essendon all year. They have ruined this season!

Genuinely upsetting to listen to.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
Ok, I just wanted to post a thread of that title. I left bigfooty many years ago, never to return, so this is the next best place for such a thread.
James Hird is making a complete mess of these drugs, and just needs to GTFOOTW. (get the f out of the way).
However, the essendon implosion is good for us. Ive heard of 16 uncontracted players. An Hurley wants out.
How good would Hurley be in a Swans jumper down back doing what Everitt is doing right now ?
Poach, young swans, Poach hard, and punish these bombers for soiling our premiership year and the great game that is AFL.
I hope Richard does us proud and walks into the presidents meeting and says "Dibs on Goddard" before anyone else can speak.

It is far too risky to do this due to the possibility of drug related suspensions. There is no limit on the time that charges can be brought against players. It seems fairly clear that most of the team took WADA prohibited substances and it is only a matter of whether there is enough proof to sanction any particular players. For example, you could sign Hurley to a multi year contract and then he gets suspended for 2 years. What do you do?
In my previous post I noted that it might be the case that the entire 2012 Essendon list is effectively frozen from moving to another club.
