      Never a truer word.

Any form of cheating: And not just tanking and drug taking but salary cap rorting can do enormous damage to an organisation's culture.

The cheating behaviour can be both a cause and a sign of a diseased organisation. Establishing such a culture of dishonesty could make success harder not easier to achieve (Melbourne).

Unfortunately, sometimes the benefits accrued by lying and cheating make up for the damage done to the clubs culture and they can achieve success despite a poor culture (Wet Toast in '06).

I think we must all pray that the 'Bloods culture of uncompromising honesty and trust has proofed us against this.

        Why Us?

Two Premierships in the past decade and both in years when there are strong drug allegations. I'm presuming the Swans are clean - and if I'm wrong I'd find it hard to continue to support them - but in 2005/06 we won then lost against Ben and Chicky and the West Coke Eagles and now we won when the Bombers were apparently cycling between rehab and re-hit.

Still, on my primary belief that our club is clean, image if the Bombers had really done whatever it takes and had won the Flag against us in 2012 - as their form suggested was possible for the first half of 2012. And if they'd won against us. So we lost against two teams using chemical help. Would the AFL recover? I guess we'll see when we see how/if cycling rebounds.

The peptides in questions are not in themselves PED's. They trick the brain into releasing larger than normal amounts of growth hormone, naturally occurring substances. This is the level of trickery involved and as such will be hard to prove unless they can find a loose vial of the @@@@ lying around

Unfortunately the nature of footy at AFL level makes it a logical fit for PEDs. Athletes in endurance sports can gain a tremendous benefit from artificial means, both in terms of performance and recovery. This may see us move from a culture where we are mocked if we questions suspicious performance to questions being considered reasonable. If a rapid improvement over a short period of time seems unlikely, it probably is. The day Floyd Landis doped himself to the eyeballs out of panic after losing his lead in Le Tour the previous day is the most obvious example I can think of. If an athlete, particularly an older one, recovers far more quickly than is usual from an injury, then it's suspicious.

It's sad but true. If we want sport to be clean, we have to make sure it is rather than assuming it is.

It's a really serious injury as it was his injection hand.

What is awful is that I found myself making an assessment of some of our younger players and wondering if....I mean so much new muscle....and then I felt quite ashamed of myself. Then I got mad that I felt this way. I look at our staff and think that there is no way any of these long time staffers, and I mean looooonnngg time, would engage in such activity. Can you imagine Richard Colless or Horse or Taubert, or Stuey, or Henry or Crouchy or Ireland, let alone Nathan Gibbs and our physios being party to anything along these lines? then I started to feel a bit naive....then mad. Its all a bit much. Can they get on with it please and just stop people like me speculating on .... well everything really. I feel grubby.

Am I the only one really worried about this? Our club gives the AFL its biggest opportunity to "make a statement." We have the 2012 Premiership and taking away a flag would be the biggest punishment the AFL could hand out. If the gossip I've heard is right, 9 clubs are being investigated. If we're one of them - big trouble! Am very happy for the more level headed RWOers to calm me down! But please don't suggest valium!
