Re: Hope not.....
Can you imagine if say instead sports stars this Govt agency said that Indigenous people were all on drugs and then offered no proof of such a claim. #can #worms #open..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Just guessing here. AFL, NRL, etc. session is on the line. If they don't cooperate it might get worst, much worst. I don't know how much power the ministers have but would it be possible if they would delay or even stop H&A season from starting?Comment

BTW - sorry for using the W word about M Mc.....very crass of me. Just wanting to put some asterisks in but the last time I did that I got a formal warning for "avoiding the swear filter" and was told to swear away and "let the filter do its job" ....so, um yeah"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

It isn't innuendo - it is a statement that they have evidence which they will reveal at the end of the investigation. Innuendo is when you cast aspersions (or nasturtions, as Kath would say) against someone based on a hunch - or when you deliberately try to make someone look bad, despite that fact that you have no actual evidence.
I appreciate your point that we haven't seen any facts, yet.....but surely you don't seriously think they are lying???? Which is what you are implying by the comment that it is innuendo with no "facts"
But while we're on innuendo....
We all thought it was innuendo when many people claimed that Buddy missed 6 weeks with a hammy strain because of "mental" health issues or drugs...or both.
We thought such a thing was preposterous....
But this week Vlad says players "HAVE" been removed from playing during the season because they were unavailable to take the illicit drug test (because they were in rehab).
Maybe those people actually had the facts about Buddy. My feeling is that we should pay, much CLOSER attention to innuendo
"Goddard's leaving the Saints.....Scully's taking the money....Tippett has a signed gentleman's agreement" OH IT'S ALL INNUENDO, WHERE ARE THE FACTS??
How many people had a go at Caroline Wilson and she was RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT in about April last year. I think even Grant Thomas apologised.
I'm struggling to think of ANY issue over the 20 years I've been watching footy which has turned out to be less serious than was "innuendoed"
Carlton brown paper bags, tanking, West Coast drugs, Bock and his Missus, Carey and his "ladyfriends" and his skipper's missus...etc, etc, etc...
Yet at every turn Reggi types will attempt to smear Dale Lewis, Aker, Reimers and others when they are brave enough to speak up against the Bully-Boys"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

In a very strange piece in the Telegraph, Rebecca Wilson called the whole thing a "charade" but said:
"From the outset, let me say that there is no doubt a systemic and endemic doping problem at a few AFL and rugby league clubs.Rumours have swirled for three seasons around several high profile clubs and this week we saw Essendon in total damage control as a result of the doping accusations levelled against their entire player group. The sports scientist at the centre of the accusations has gone into hiding and his fitness co-ordinator has been stood down as a result of the controversy. There remains a chance that at least half of the playing group may be suspended for several seasons as a result. One elite sports club was raided at the behest of the Crime Commission and I'm told the head coach is still bragging about the locked drawer they failed to open in his office. The allegation is that it was full of illegal substances ready for injection."
I'd just like the clean clubs to be acknowledged as clean. That could be done by a general statement like "This is widespread but not endemic. For example we have no reason to investigate further against clubs x, y and z. There are some other clubs where we think the transgressions are only minor". We know some clubs are definitely in trouble - but not if there are some that aren't. Right now we don't know if any of our players are tainted, as much as we expect (and hope) they are not.Comment

Also, there are strict provisions governing how the ACC may make use of any information gathered through the use of coercive powers. These provisions provide protection to people and organisations involved. In addition, examinations are conducted in private to:
- protect the integrity of the special ACC operation or investigation
- preserve the safety or reputation of a person or entity affected by the operation or investigation
- guard against the risk of prejudice to the fair trial of a person who has been or may be charged with an offence.

""According to sources close to the investigation, players were tricked into taking so called "supplements", only to be later told that they had in fact taken banned substances.
The players were then later called upon and threatened with being "outed" as drug cheats unless they agreed to fix matches or pay money. According to sources, several players had fallen victim to the bribery racket and were mostly confined to the NRL and not other codes.""
Here is a little bit of better news this morning from the NewsLtd website. In a situation like this, any little bit of better news is welcome isn't it ?Comment
