Fact is with morton we most likely, in fact im going to say wouldnt of won the flag without him. Those 2 goals he kicked was the type of thing that he was recruited for and were crucial. Looking ahead whether he is in the best 22 or not this year remains to be seen, but he is a very handy player to have on the list.

      Mitch Morton

I've loved watching him come along, had high hopes for him as someone that the Swans system could hopefully "turn good". He has worked hard since coming onboard and I think he is a genuine hard working fella. Hope he has another good year and we find a way of playing him in our forward line!

second qtr 14th minute against adelaide in the Q2

Morton leads from top of the square to the top of the 50.........walks back after taking the goal and bombs away - GOAL !

I know i am on a hiding to know where pumping MMs tyres after only a handful of games in 2012 but the guy provides us with so much flexibility in our forward structures !

At first glance you would think Benny provides flexibility but MM provides his own as he can play as the top of the square leading forward as well as the scrapper like benny plays et

watching the semi tonight against the Crows and watching the GF........Mitch was determined as well as class !

Benny > MM at this stage. I'd be more than happy for Mitch to come into the team late in the year and help us to a second title, but preferably not at poor Benny's expense this year please.

Didn't Mcglynn ad Morton play in the same team in the QF ?

              Yeah I think that's right.

Anyway, they are completely different type players...eg I don't think we'll be seeing Morton tagging opposition midfielders any time soon.

If both are in good form, I'd expect them both in the team.

                Agreed.
They are completely different players and MM is at least a foot taller than our little Benny! (Just joking folks, slight exageration!)
If there was room for both MM and Benny to play together in Rd 21, 22 and the QF, there is certainly room for both of them now. Longmire did say that even if Benny was fit to play in the GF, Morts was still going to play.

I admit to jumping onboard the Mitch Morton bandwagon last year, (sadly, I'm old enough to remember his old man running around Claremont Oval back in the day! ) and really hope he continues where he left off last year.
I might have a slight drinking problem. My husband asked me to toast some bread for him...so I raised my wine glass and said "Here's to bread!"

Benny has a much higher workrate than MM as far as I can see. While MM spends most of his time in the f50, Benny is roaming around popping up in defence and in the middle. I can see Ben moving into the middle, with him and Parks rotating with Jude and ROK this year, and then next when we have a couple of retirements or lose a couple to salary cap pressure. Benny is the harder nut of teh 2 and I'd still play him in front of MM

Yes but that was because Reg got an unwanted holiday.

                      Mitch Morton

Morton was a late inclusion for Walsh though, who played the week before, along with Reg.

Yes, and Parker was the one who benefitted from McGlynn's injury.

I'm an unashamed Mitch Morton fan, an have been even before he came to the Swans (I think I must have only seen a couple of his games for the tigers in fairness). The one thing that Mitch has over EVERYONE else on the list (to the best of my knowledge) is that he has kicked more goals in one season than anyone else. And that was before he did stuff like actually try hard! I think the selectors would be mad not to have him in the starting 22 at this point. That said, Benny should be in too. And about another 25 players :P

I'm impressed with the way MM outmarked (I think) two Adelaide defenders then in the GF outhustled two Hawk defenders; outstanding efforts in quite different situations. We'll play him from the start I think.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
