The key in that graph is also skewed to make us look disproportionately high as it starts from 7.5mill. Classic tabloid stuff from the newest tabloid in town.

And Adelaide need to get over it and move on. He was out of contract therefore if not traded had the right to say where he wanted to go and if he got there it was his good fortune. Not our fault he chose Sydney. How many people lie about leaving their workplace? How much are Hawthorn paying all their big stars? Anyway it really doesn't matter since yet again no one rates us. Not one captain or journo. Jealous much.Comment

Here's a photo of the latest interview with a representative of the anti COL brigade.

Andy D doesn't expect the COLA to be going anywhere soon. He comments that the Swans have demonstrated that the allowance is spread over the whole list.

Here's the graphic, I put it in the Tippett thread as wellThe On The Couch panel showed how stupid this whole argument is last night in about 2 minutes. They sarcastically commented that apparently you're not allowed to sign a player if you win a premiership. They then showed the graphic that outlined the salaries the traded and delisted players were on. I had no idea that Seaby and Moore were on as much as they were. Mike Sheehan showed yet again that he is one of the few Melbourne journos who is prepared to look at the bigger picture when it comes to the A in AFL and not be biased.

Those figures they put up did surprise me. That's a lot of money to pay ressie players, that is for Seaby and Moore.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

They signed Seaby with a long term view to be understudy to and eventually succeed Jolly. His deal was done very early in that trade week, but when the Jolly deal got done, it forced our hand to go and grab Mummy in the same trade week as well. I'm pretty sure they saw Seaby as our future number one ruckman at the time, hence the price tag. Of course this is the same week that we landed Joey and Benny.

Players getting extra as a percentage of their wage could be argued tho.
For example, it would still cost Mitch Morton the same as Kurt Tippett to live in Sydney, but Kurt would be getting about 4x more than Mitch as a COL allowance because his contract is about 4x higher.
It may be fairer that the breakup is more equitable, maybe take into account marital/family circumstances etc. It would certainly cost more for Tippett to live in Sydney than Mitch if he had a wife and 3 kids to factor in.
The bottom line tho is the COL allowance is fair and reasonable, just maybe the distribution could be looked at...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
