That was an absolutely woeful game of football, and all I can say is that thank goodness we got the four points. Nothing else to say apart from the only way from here is upwards. Oh and ANZ stadium is a joke!

I'm happy - we did enough to win and GWS will push a few teams this year.

But to get a paltry 23,000 on such a nice day during holidays when the reigning premiers are playing and the Show is on next door is a disgraceful turnout. I'm sure Vlad and co will be worried about that one.....

There was no $3:90 chips. I refused to go.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

          23K?

So half of what the Dogs/Souths game pulled yesterday?

          Terrible.

I NARFed in the end. Seems we weren't alone!

Boring game, really. I thought we got a good run on the umps, so that's something!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

yep at the game tonight it was some of the worst kicking in general play i have seen from our lads

onwards and upwards from here no doubt !

good to see most guys who cam back underdone did quite well

Smithy looked like he is fit enough again.

I remember in 2006 our first two games were shockers. I recall getting thrashed by Port Adelaide at the SCG. Port Adelaide finished 12th in 2006. We finished 2nd but should have finished 1st (But that's another story). Todays game was very ordinary, but its too early to rate the Swans. We had a lot of players under done.

Happy with that result, GWS are improved and we are under done so I'll take 30 points. I also collected on my bet on GWS with a 42 point start although I was worried about it at quarter time! So a win/win for me tonight.

The usual players were our best. Thought Mumford off a limited preparation was great and congratulations to Rampe who looked ok.

Just watched GCS beat the Saints. Gary Ablett was awesome. I don't reckon we've managed to contain Ablett in the past so be interesting to see who does what next week to curb his influence.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Shame Mumford didn't bring kicking boots to match his marking hands. He was very dangerous up forward, especially in the first half. He's normally quite a reliable set shot too. Pyke was quite impressive too. Some great marks around the ground, and provided something up forward too.

I have a feeling GWS are going to be challenging sooner rather than later. They have a very nicely balanced team - excellent contested ball winners and tonight showed they are learning how to spread. Several of their midfielders are good overhead and most of them have a bit of pace. Throw in the twin towers up forward and they are developing very nicely. Paton is an absolute beast - strong, leads well and very relaxed kicking for goal. The three he kicked sailed right through the middle.

I think Bird will come into the team.

I noticed Mummy looked a lot fitter today - his body shape has changed a bit and he's leaner and has definitely got more definition in the arms and particularly the shoulders. He was very strong in the air today and was a real handful - he and Pykey must be one of the premier outfits going round now - a pretty fearsome looking pairing.

After that first mark Pykey took at the start of the game I did notice his guns were in good shape! Both of the big guys look really fit, fingers and toes crossed they still are at the pointy end.

Pyke took a one handed grab going backwards which was mighty impressive. His kicking appears to have improved as well! They're starting to make a really good combination

I'm surprisingly upbeat after a 30 point win over GWS. We did what we needed to do and dusted a few cobwebs off at the same time. The Giants' list is almost 100% talent, they'll trouble a few sides this year.

Mumford really surprised considering how little we've heard about him over the preseason and the question marks over his lack of fitness. Reid started slow but finished strong and that mark was vintage Reid. As long as we stay relatively injury free (touch wood) we're in for a good season and a top 4 finish.

Can those that went give an approximation of the split in support, did Swans fans outnumber GWS fans?

Wondering how many fans GWS will pull against other low supported clubs like Poor Power. I assume they give away lots of tickets to this type of game to at least get bums on seats?
