A reminder of the varied stories and backgrounds of young kids that come to our club. An article from the time of his recruitment by the one and only Emma Quayle: Lamb's drafting a story of immense courage

He plays in the seconds and he played just about a whole season at fullback a few years back. I'm not sure how you can think if he doesn't quite cut the grade in the seconds in a certain position we should see if he does it any better in seniors...
I assumed you were talking senior level, as he has excelled as both a forward and ruckman at reserves level, to suggest that he doesn't cut it at reserves level is just plain wrong. Not that this form will necessarily translate to senior AFL level

To be fair, I'm not sure that he didn't quite cut the grade in the seconds in that position- from memory he was pretty decent as a fullback, had good closing speed and was suprisingly active as a rebound defender. I think they partly didn't persist with him there because it was still just the Canberra teams and not a lot of the ball was coming in, so they weren't really getting much of a true development opportunity, and also partly because they suddenly need to work on him as a forward/ruck. I certainly don't remember him struggling in the role.

That said, I'd be shocked if they actually turned around and gave him a go in the backline!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Gees we did ok out of that draft didn't we? Parker at 40 and AJ at 57 as well as Jed!

I'm very pleased that Lamb is getting a run this weekend. We're at home in a game we should win and it's a perfect chance to bring him in after what has been consistent good form in the reserves, which is what the coaching staff look for. I hope he doesn't start as the sub, although I suspect he will.

Congratulations to Jed. I'd like to see him get a whole game, or if not, to be subbed off rather than on.
And getting AJ at pick 57 is going to become a club legend and an encouragement to all who aren't picked early!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

His debut was being delayed by the media who had foreshadowed the headline "Lamb Devours Lions." We were told that if he didn't debut this week we would have to wait until the Richmond game.

Mummy's career was delayed 2 years because there wasn't an AFL team named the Kebabs.

It's 3 out of the following 5...... Bird, Armstrong, Walsh, White, Morton

I'm Guessing ; Bird, Morton, WHITE

You left out Rampe. Don't see white coming in at all he's a ruck man now. It will be Rampe

Maybe they only named Jesse in case Mumford went on another bender.

It seems to me that Lamb would be competing more with Morton's position/role than with the others on the extended bench

He has been pretty good in the ruck and changing forward in the Twos. In fact I would say he has been amongst our best every week.

we will know at 4:30pm this afternoon who is in and who is out. But my prediction was pretty well right of the extended bench and Drey going out. Congrats to Lambie as he is playing really well in the Twos and deserves his chance. We need to be a lot tighter in defence this week and our mids are still letting too much ground get between them and their opponents. Need tightening up! Tackling was better last week but still needs a tweek. We are still letting mids get blindside and allowing the overlap at times. This will get fixed at the season progresses (I would think). It is round six and we should be starting to catch up to the other teams fitness wise about now.
