Just caught up on this today. All I can say is that since he arrived at our club, has adopted the true blood culture, and to read of his challenges.... my pride in how he has represented this club and pushed himself to deliver what has been achieved is amazing. Well done Marty Mattner! Like others in you class you will be missed, and always loved by the Swans family!"We talked five times. I called him twice, and he called me twice."   :D

Martin - last year , your decision-making and disposal improved out of sight ! That's understandable for a youngster like LJ , but how the heck does a bloke pushing 30 achieve that ?? Thank you for the memories of THAT tackle , which I was privileged to witness at the 'G , and for all you gave to our cause.Comment

Fantastic Career Marty!! Thanks so much for your contribution to this great club.
Can remember getting out of my seat and cheering as you were able to produce those goal/game saving tackles, especially on Riewoldt and of course on Birchall last year.

One of my favourite players. Excellent defender, thumping left boot when at his best - and of course the run down tackles from behind.
Two thumbs up to Marty on a great career, and I'm sure knowing he's leaving the club in a better state then when he found it will make what I'm sure was a very tough decision, a little easier.
All the best for life after footy, and thanks. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

I remember watching him tear the opposition a new one one day at the SCG. Unfortunately at the time he was playing for Adelaide. Of course, that would change and what a great player he has been for the Swans, capped off by a premiership and what may have been the match winning tackle on Grant Birchall.
Here's hoping he can stay a part of the family as I am sure he would have a lot he can pass on to the youngsters we have. In any case, all the best to him for life after footy.Comment

Gave his 100 percent everytime he went out onto the footy field. Never died wondering did Marty and will be sorely missed and good luck to him in the future.LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.
