As we have Tippett and Reid and don't necessarily need another key forward, I foresee us then on-trading that pick to someone who does. A deal with Adelaide for Dangerfield would be nice.....

I can't believe some of you are so haphazard about losing Mummy. We should be doing all we need to to keep him.

This, and I reckon the coaching staff would agree also.

Who said we shouldn't? He's the one not signed up. We are just hypothesizing if he chooses not to what we'd like.

I thought I saw him chasing faster then I can ever remember during the Dees game. We just have don't have the depth to cover losing him and any potential injury to Pyke. White doesn't cut it. And it's not what we recruited Tip for.

Does anybody seriously believe GWS will do anything to assist us when in all likely hood they could pick up Mumford in Pre season draft anyway if it comes down to dollars

I have no idea if the club sees a prominent role for Mummy in the future.
They have their plans and will go with them.
If they see Mummy as not being able to get a regular gig in a fit team, they will do the right thing by him and trade him.
for the club, but also for him as they care about their players as humans and want them to play.
But you could say the same thing for Pyke.
Could be either of them, nether of them or both of them going.
                  Time will tell.

We have plenty of depth in the midfield, but we need another quality KPP prospect. Going into next season with Pyke, White and Tippo as ruck options is enough. We have Naismith in reserve and we will probably take another Ruckman in the draft. The way I look at it is White plus a number 1 draft pick is better than Mummy plus a number 3 draft pick (assuming that we can get a pick in the teens for Mummy and one in the 40s for Jesse).

We don't know the salary cap situation with certainty, but we should suspect that it's fairly tight. We have to be realistic and find where we can lighten the load and not hurt the team that much. There's only so much quality depth you can carry in the reserves. Players want to play seniors. One way of lightening the cap load is to trade high value players in their prime for promising youth that come in at a lower salary and a bit of patience.

A rumour that Jaksch was looking to leave GWS was reported on SEN today. I can't help thinking how this guy is the missing piece to the long-term future of the Swans. It would give us 2 good young swing KPPs (along with Reid).

I hope we can keep Mummy, but if we can't come to terms, I would try to do a trade for Jaksch. I would also be happy to trade our Number 1 pick for him and throw in Morton or Armstrong as well. There's a real dearth of quality Key defenders at the moment and we should strike this year when we have midfielders to trade and no particular immediate holes to fill. They'll be plenty of teams queuing up to land some of the GWS surplus. I think we should be a player.

Our present injury dilemma to KPPs only highlights what our long term requirements are. This will be an important year for us at the trade and draft tables.

It took a lot of courage to write those words. Parting ways with Tony would cut like a knife.

This SMH story canvassing GWS trade options doesn't even mention Mumford. Plus Sheedy says the incoming recruits need to be 24-25, which also rules out Mumford. So unless someone definitively puts Mummy on the trade table let's assume he's not going anywhere.

I'd be more worried about collingwood than the Giants. I believe we could get a good trade out of them though, if it did come round to it. I'd prefer to keep mummy though
