i reckon the melbourne game is just about the worst over that time. even matty lloyd kicking 15 (i think it was 15) against us wasnt that bad and i hate essendon and matty lloyd.

just about every other game we had a little run and could almost have got back into the game with some straight kicking - even the finals loss which was plugger's last game where we were super uncompetitive was better than that dees game.
The only game I've ever left at 3/4 time.
Was home seconds before the final siren.

I'll be furious if we don't give Melbourne a good old belting - percentage could still prove important in the battle against Freo.

The Richmond game has me worried - but at least we meet them at home. If it was at the MCG, I would be expecting a loss, that's for sure.

No "Just about" necessary. It was the worst. They scored a goal after about 60 seconds and that was as close as we got. I left pretty early too. It is the only game ever that one of my kids has said. "Dad. I think I want to go for a different team."

She was only 7 at the time so I explained that you have to take the good with the bad. She came back around fairly quickly.

I won't be surprised if we gap them by about 100 on Sunday.

I hope BJ starts. He will get better with every game and a good romp would do wonders for his confidence.

That's hilarious! My 8 year old only really got into footy last year (though he's making up on those 7 years of lost time with fanatical passion now) and I wonder how he'll handle the pain of following a team which loses more than it wins. Winning week in week out and taking away premiership cups is just normal as far as he's concerned.

Lets hope it's a long time before he finds out!

He's slowed down a bit, and I reckon the sub role could suit him really well.

My first three years as a Swans supporter (I was always going to be one, given that the bulk of the family had followed South) were 1992-1994. Only 8 wins in those three seasons. 26 losses in a row at one stage. My favourite player was Simon Minton-Connell.

              It was good grounding!

In some ways I miss those days (1992-94) as I never expected them to win a game so was never disappointed but when they did win it was like winning a grand final. Now a loss is very painful.

The last couple of years have spoiled us. I was even relaxed during the grand final last year. But the last two weeks have reminded me just how stressful it was to be a swans supporter in '05 and '06.

Tippett, Pyke/Mumford & Reid, are we going to test out a giant forward line this week or what?

                              I know that feeling.
It's still hard to think we are expected to win most weeks.

Our forwardline is going to stretch Melbourne's backs. They are going to either hope it rains and play a mid sizer or play an extra tall and upset their balance. We have had the same problem this year before dre came in and he plays tall/small. A team needs the flexible players like Dre, AJ even goodsie who has played CHB. This will be a big test for these Melbourne youngsters.

Our blokes need to play, they have to REALLY play, not just turn up as against Port. We can't go into games against the lower teams just expecting to win or we will get knocked off. I think after the Port game a few players reassessed where they were at and the effort they were putting in and last week was the result. I don't think we will be in that lackadaisical frame of mind again this season.

The on-field leaders were certainly very vocal last week and very demanding in the quality of delivery. I think this week will be no different. The Port lesson has been learnt.
