BJ is very very raw, but imo (and I only saw a limited bit of KJ in his developing years) he looks to have more potential than KJ had at the same time. Some hard work, some good time developing in the reserves next year and he will come on in leaps and bounds. If he has the same application of his brother, BJ will make it as an afl player.Gee whiz I am proud of them tonight. Amazingly good performance.

How was that not a mark to rok ?

I think Brandon jack is the one of the youngsters who looks the furthest from playing at afl level. The rest could all make it

Also I hope Jesse has learned a bit from lake tonight - he will bump you if he is close enough very early - Jesse has to make longer leads and force lake to sprint with him"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I didn't mean that bj won't make it, more that I think he is still a long way off from what I have seen to date. He needs more timeComment

I agree with all this. Pleased with this loss. Franklin is gone.That was the most enjoyable loss I have watched for ages:
* Rohan is looking tops
* White on fire
* K Jack, Kennedy, Parker, ROK all working well in the midfield.
* Mitchell back in some form
* Incy was reliable this week
* Mumford is in the best form I have seen him in
* Cracking game from Biggs
* The pressure tackling is back
* So good seeing Morton go around again.
B Jack and B Cunningham looked out of their depth, but the team did well even with those guys almost completely missing.
The other great thing is that these are two clean-playing teams. Puopolo tricks the umps into giving him frees for high contact but besides that the Hawks are an honourable opposition - so much more pleasant than playing Geelong or Collingwood."Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the Swans win pretty."Comment

Much happier this week, we didn't look tired like we did against Collingwood and Geelong. Pressure was very good in creating turnovers.
Rested three players this week which will assist going forward and also Hawthorn didn't get a look at Tippett who cut them up in his last outing against them in last years Prelim.Comment

Wow. I'd accepted i would have a miserable week. But our midfield no longer look tired. Jesse is great to watch. Kieren was his old self. Ted is in form. Mummy has energy. I was worried we were going to win. We can beat these pretenders. I don't think we match up as well against Geelong, and Freo probably do. This was a good result.Comment

Certainly the effort was there, and the hard ball pressure was most certainly there. Need to maintain it for 4 quarters, but we weren't helped tonight by not having Hanners in our midfield rotation. As useful as Cunningham and BJ may become, they don't get a lot of ball yet and it was our bottom few that got shown up when the game was there to be won early in the last. Bring in Hanners, get Smith back to do a job on that little Poopoo or Rioli if he plays and get Tippett back, and I think we are right in it next week.Wow. I'd accepted i would have a miserable week. Looking forward to the media writing us off all week next week! If we bring tonight's effort next week and a bit more polish, we can win next week. Carn you mighty swannies - don't give up the Cup without an almighty fight!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Longmire just interviewed...happy with effort and winning tackles. Mal off as a precaution. He says Hanners, Nick Smith & Tippett all back next week. Will see how Jetta pulls up after Ressies (something tells me Jets could be a sub next week all going well). Horse also mentioned Goodesy ran well today and LRT is thereabouts. Ch 7 also showed Keiran Jack in the rooms sitting against the wall wrapped in a red dressing gown looking asleep. They said he looked a bit fluey...if so, thats a good sign as he will only improve.Comment

1st three quarters really were excellent CJK, especially in light of our poor last month. We dropped off in the last, which you can't afford to do against good sides. Certainly I think there is plenty of reason to feel far more optimistic going into the 1st final next week after the performance tonight."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Ask Mike Fitzpatrick and the AFL about that lovely contract.....
Anyway the atmosphere was ok tonight - a combination of a really good Swans effort and general lack of feral Collingwood sub-humans.Comment

Good effort in the first three quarters but the Hawks seemed to turn up their intensity in the last and that's where they won the game. We should expect that level next week though so we shouldn't prematurely assume we're back on track fullyComment

Back in Town
We are back in town boys and girls. Still room for improvement and the last quarter was average but I did not want to win and play Geelong at Simonds Stadium anyway. Not saying we are premiers, but if we play like that. whoever beats us will really know about it. Goodbye Buddy , you will not be there next week and we will have Tippet.1st three quarters really were excellent CJK, especially in light of our poor last month. Agree. Hawks lifted a level when they needed too. Much better effort from the boys but next week will be much harder.Comment
