Can you imagine the awkward dinner conversation
Hall: Hey Kirky can you tell Roosy to pass the salt shaker? I'm not speaking to him
Roos: Brett tell Hally that it's closer to Collo than it is to me. I wouldn't want to poach it from right under his nose :rolls eyes:
Colless: Kirky tell Roosy that the only thing I'm prepared to give him is the bird. By which I mean this wonderful chicken schnitzel
Davis: Hey Kirky! hey Kirky! Did you hear about the time I kicked four goals in a quarter to "save us"? Do I still "owe you guys" anymore? Hahahaha. Oh yum did someone mention fried chicken
Kirk: *repeating this mantra in his head* Only eight more years till the Freo premiership reunion...Comment

A friend of mine suggested a theory to the Collis and Roos conflict.
He believes that it may be Longmire who is taking great offence in what Roos is alleged to be doing. Instead of Longmire telling his former mentor to publicly back off, the Swans have sent out Collis to take on Roos. The fact that Collis is leaving as Chairman also makes it easier for him to be the bad guy.
I don't know if this theory has legs, but we never here much about the relationship between Longmire and Roos. We tend to hear a lot about the close relationship that Ross Lyon and Roos share!
Can any insiders provide comment on my mates theory?Comment

Interesting. Not sure whether it counts as the "apology" that Roos was reportedly demanding, but it certainly reiterates Colless' respect for Roos, hopefully removes the "personality" factor from the recent spat, and challenges Roos to speak with Colless to clear the air.
Over to you Roosey....Comment

I think the situation is summed up in the statement here:
Let me make it clear, that part of my role as Chairman is to protect our players, coaches and support staff and do what is in the absolute best interest of the Sydney Swans. I remain resolute about that and I would expect everyone in the football community to accept that.
Doesn't leave a great deal to the imagination. I somehow think that they might not be talking for some time.
In his protection role, Richard personally drove all the players, coaches and support staff home after the Mad Tuesday celebrations.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

We don't know the answer to this, as there may have been ''inhouse discussions and argy bargy, between the club and Roos,, prior to it becoming public.
For all we know, there may have been previous warnings to Roos that fell on deaf ears.
Colless's attack comes across as a last resort, to get through to Roos, that the club will not stand by and allow him to use his intimate inside knowledge to plunder us.Last edited by ernie koala; 29 September 2013, 09:12 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... I know I am in the minority here but I just don't think Paul Roos needs to make an apology to anyone involved with the Swans. If they want to break bread behind doors then fine but just keep it private. Dicky has gotten his knickers in a knot (again....) and made a goose of himself but that happens at time when you are passionate about something
It's largely a storm in a teacup anyway, I'm sure Roosy has enough friends to not lose sleep over the personal aspect.
Roosy coaches the opposition, we draft Perris (as we should if we rate him), we keep Dew (AFL Coaches Assn backs us on that so that's good enough for me) and we all get on with life.....Comment

But that is the thing. We are not closely enough involved to know the actual details. Colless clearly believes he had to say what was said. I'm pretty sure that roos did something important people at the club thought was using inside info in pursuit of the interests of someone other than the swans. Whether what was done important enough to create this rift, how can you ever know as an outsider ?Comment
