Tudor has missed out on the Lions job as it has gone to Leppitsch.

If we were to lose both, there are plenty of very well qualified coaches who could come on board so I'm not worried.

If perris wants to hold the Club to ransom as an Academy player (if that is true) then perhaps he is better going with Pinnochio to the Demons.

Nup he works for the AFL and ABC. BUT with all these spots opening up..........

Well there are a few that are quietly hoping.

However he probably wouldn't have much chance to conduct a post match win.

I agree. When is a contract not a contract. You know when you sign a contract there is an "opportunity cost" involved. As well, it seems the "gentlemen's agreement" relates to a coach going to a higher position. Stewie was in fact interviewing for an equal role, albeit one with a clearly defined progression. Tough having to stick with a contract you signed under no duress.

Roos might be claiming a "pinky promise" to get Dew.

I agree with this. Apparently Longmire had Dew beside him when he was giving some presentation to the AFL commission recently. Obviously rated highly.
If down the track he does succeed Longmire, I'd be concerned on the drain on our finances. Snakes and raspberries don't come cheap these days.

True, but there are no guarantees that the senior assistant at Melbourne wil actually get the top job. Everyone assumed Mark Williams wad Sheedy's appointed successor at GWS but it didn't work out for him and the Giants, and he moved on after a year.

I think it is actually guaranteed this time as it will be put in the assistants contract that he takes over after 2 years. Completely back Colless and the club here but id like to see Colless be the bigger man and put up some form of apology even if it just says i shouldnt have gone public with it, even an uneasy truce would be better than having Roos despise the swans after such a great relationship with the club.

That seems a little premature to me. And Melbourne really can't afford to be premature.

Also, if Roos thinks Dew is the absolute best man for the job but Dew still has a year to run on a contract, it would seem silly to guarantee the role to someone else just because they're available now. Why not just wait until Dew is out of contract.

(Of course, if Dew's contract has more than a year to run, this argument's not so valid. But if Dew has aspirations to move to more senior roles, especially more senior assistant roles, as opposed to an immediate senior coach's role, maybe he shouldn't sign longish term contracts.)

It will be interesting to see if the Swans can report a decent profit next year with Roos off the payroll. The club probably paid for his family vacations in America under the guise of convincing Lebron James to convert to Aussie Rules.

Roos has been able to ooze from player to assistant coach to coach to academy to commentating, all within and paid for, building on the Swans culture. You might think if he trusted his own judgement and leadership he'd be able to build it in some other club without plundering the talent he has been paid a fortune to develop somewhere else (ie for the Swans future, not the his next club where he is being paid fabulously well too).

Where does all this hatred and aggression come from? Roos will go down in history as a Swans legend regardless of what Colless or anyone else says. Surely he warrants respect for his achievements, not petty sour grapes because he now works for another club?
