Love this thread with people who love their football!

    My rational:

    - we have had 4 rookie elevations (Biggs, Rampe, Richards and Jack), that takes us to 42. They will be there in 2014. I don't think these guys would have been elevated if they were not going to be on the 2014 list

    - We have three confirmed retirees, which will take our list to 39.

    - We have to fit three NAB draft selections on the list. That takes the list to 42.

We will need to delist 4 players or trade players out to get down to 38.

Those 4 elevations during the year do not necessarily equate to elevations at the end of the year.

Thanks for clearing that up ugg!

Which of the 4 rookie elevations do you think will be on the senior list in 2014?

          Matt, I see your logic.

As Ugg said, they have to be formerly promoted to the senior list. All 4 are certainly worthy of a senior spot at this stage. I forgot Rampe was an elevation. J

Don't forget we can use some (if not all???) of our 3 draft picks for promotion of rookies.

Hmmm...just depends who that someone is. I'm guessing that since Big Al is no longer about the Gatorade girl might be a chance?

Would love Martin at our joint. His off-field issues are significantly overplayed and my mail is he is on a good path. It would certainly stick alot of egg into Richmond's faces after we were going to trade our pick 6 and pick 14 for him in the 2009 draft.

With Bolton retiring, aswell as Mattner I think we have enough salary cap room to get him across. Imagine a midfield of Martin, Jack, Hannebery, Kennedy, ROK, Mitchell, Jetta, Rohan, Parker, Bird. Wow. Get it done Swannies.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

But can we fit Buddy and Martin in under the salary cap?

As it was Roos who tried to get him back in 09 with the draft swap. I'm sure he'll be throwing everything at him to get him to the Demons.

                      Me. Personally? No.

I admire his football and I know we have a good history with bad boys but I think he falls outside the boundaries of a No Dickheads policy. Besides, I have a theory - yet to be disproved - that any tatts above the collar equals trouble.

Martin is a fine player, but I can't see how we can afford him!

He is worth 600,000 according to Roos, and we have spent a lot of available money on Tippett!

People we say that the retirement of Bolton, Matner and Morton would free up some money, but we have Jesse White and Shane Mumford unsigned for 2014.

Lets wait for the end of the 2015 season when there will be some money available!

                          H. Shaw & D. Martin. What happened to the no DH policy? Having said that, after much thought I would strangely want them in the team. However, Martin's price is too high. This may create malcontent amongst our saintly, humble, diligent and disciplined mids who should be on 600K in the near future.

We also have a few very good youngsters who will deserve a pay rise.

No big-ticket recruits on their way this year for mine. If anything perhaps one or two more clever moneyball trades but otherwise I think we'll be non-players in the trade period this year.

I think Mr Martin will end up in Sydney, but out west.....

If Martin is worth $600k, what are JPK, Jack, Macca and Hanners worth? Not room for all of them on $600k+ per year.

                                This is an excellent point.

No way would the Swans be willing to pay this guy, who has a lousy tank by the way and struggles to run out games, more than most of our existing mids...No way.

I also agree with Swansongster, Re tatts above the collar, I'm thinking Todd Carney, Ben Barba to name a few.
