AFL Radio Trade week starts today, a week before the trade week period. I just don't understand why they didn't kick off trade week today as all Clubs have started the negotiations.

It will be interesting if the AFL is trying to gazump the Sydney Telegraph Friday or Saturday headline, with Franklin landing in one of the Sydney Clubs. Will the news be big enough to dent the reporting of the NRL Grand Final?
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Hahaha I really don't think we need Buddy, but I kind of want to see it happen, to see the absolute meltdown in Melbourne about it

My perception of any Buddy talk is that the Swans are playing games a bit here.
Those who care more about the details can fill in the blanks, but given that GWS are interested in Mummy as well as Buddy, stating our interest in Buddy surely would throw a bit of a wild card in the works along the line somewhere.

Having said that, for the first time I can remember, the Swans are the "team to be at"
Tippett was the first to put it out there, and it's not surprising that other feel the same way given how the team etc is regarded.

The Swans need to be careful with the Western Bulldogs recruitment idea for White. The Dogs have the 4th pick in the Preseason Draft and the teams above them in the Preseason Draft - GWS, Melbourne and St Kilda are unlikely to take White! He may come through to the Dogs for nothing!

I'm sure the Swans are not playing silly games like GWS did over Tippett ...but ... maybe it is make sure they use even more $$$ on Buddy. Nah.

I would of thought all 3 of those clubs would be happy with the addition of White. ..?

Would seem a risky strategy by us recruiting two very expensive key forwards in Tippi then BUddy

GWS will use that Preseason pick for Mumford! Melbourne have an abundance of talk forwards and ruckman! St Kilda have space for a player like White, but they have publicly never shown an interest in him! Next up is the Dogs!

He may be another Carey by 2017, but we're a massive chance of winning flags in 2014, 15 and 16 before he hits his straps and trading out Mummy, Grundy and whoever won't help us achieve that...
I agree with this big-time. Get all the pieces right now, while our sensational midfield is peaking with these players.

So what makes you so sure Mummy will go for nothing?

He may well want to go to a Melbourne team, in a premiership window, for all we know.

From what I've read, his issue is more about the length of contract.

As for St Kilda not saying anything publicly...that doesn't mean they wouldn't go after him in a preseason draft...In fact, IMO, it would be ridiculous to think they wouldn't.

To get Buddy, we would need to make space in the cap.

White and Mumford traded out would help a lot. Throw in the retirements of Jude and Mattner. Delist or trade Armstrong and Walsh (both would earn a fair amount I assume).

This would lead a sizeable war chest to get him!

Buddy is great fun to watch, but if we are to loose Mummy and White, I'd prefer us to go after GWS's pick 1....

And draft Boyd, an 18 year old, that from scouting reviews, stats and footage, looks like a future star.

Buddy is entering his veteran years, he has had issues with Hammys and knees in recent times...

IMO, for the money and trades required, he's a risk I'd prefer to take on Boyd...for a whole lot less money.
