On trade radio Jude Bolton, who is handling Jesse White's negotiations, says Jesse is keen to move to Melbourne. It seems he has family there and his clothing label runs out of Melbourne, what clothing label doesn't, it is the centre of the fashion industry. The Pies are the interested party and I would hate to lose him to the Pies as I hate them so much. In fact I think it would be a move that will come to bite us on the bum as they will then have two genuine forwards. Not only that the coach might actually use him correctly according to his strengths; leading, pack busting etc. I don't like Buckley but he knows a winner when he sees one and to get Jesse the pies would be on a winner.

So now we go into next year minus Mummy and Jesse. This isn't a good look as far as I am concerned and if the footy department let this happen then they are screwed in the head. Buddy WILL NOT come to the Swans, we can't afford him. We would have to retire half the team to afford him, our bid is to @@@@ GWS off, simple.

Who replaces Jesse & Mummy? There are no ruckmen except Jolly in the trade period and big Sammy is maybe another year away from playing consistent senior footy. To bring Tippett to Sydney and pay him so much and then use him in the ruck seems a waste of money to me as he is a key forward and that is why we got him. If that happens then rule out next year for a premiership.

We have some good players coming back from injury but is Sam Reid a forward? Considering his rotten kicking within 40 metres, he kicks anything over that, I would say he needs massive work to become one. I would look at putting him back but that would leave a gap in the forward line at CHF. Some sides have filled those gaps with smaller players but in the end they crumble against a side who has very good KPP forward targets. Look at the Hawks with the Gunston, Roughy, Hale & Buddy forward structure. They are then boosted by true crumbing forwards, Rioli, Bruest & Puopolo. That has been a problem at times for us as we don't have enough true crumbing forwards. Benny is a wide receiver, same with Bolts, Birdie & Jed. The only natural crumber forward is BJ.

Peanuts like Brown simply shouldn't get a gig. Debate the COLA all you want but at least understand it first and then make some considered comments. They just think 'good side the Swans, must be the COLA'. Before we won the flag in 2012, we were apparently a bunch of battlers - now we've got superstars everywhere.

Draft Radio is saying the GWS offer to Franklin is really 1.6 million per season. If that is correct, then why would he want to go there when he could play with Goodes at the Swans.

seriously it makes no difference what is said. The AFL have said it as well as the swans. People say what they say because they can and the fans who hear what they want to hear.

you only have to look at the standard of political debate in this country to have this confirmed. people live in echo chambers where they hear what they want.

At the end of the day provided all of the payments are above board (and since the AFL is actually the owner of the swans it would look pretty odd if they dont oversee the books pretty closely) it is the person in charge of the salary cap at the AFL that matters on this stuff.

I hate this time of year. The poor kids who dont have a job, the superstars who can command $1.4 million a year.

Short answer no. He is out of contract and can negotiate with anyone. The season has ended and he is now fair game. We might get some compensation but that is about all.

Although I hold Buddy in high regard, I can't help but sorry for GWS. Although I'm a Swans supporter, I'm also an AFL supporter and feel
that Buddy can give so much more to GWS. For one he'd give a boost in support for them and also Sydney are a well supported and successful without
Franklin being added to the squad.

1. The COLA really is (mostly) a furphy. Perhaps at one time it was an added incentive for Victorians to come to Sydney, but now there seems be as enough incentive to get out of the limelight of AFL-centric cities for the high profile players. It is not going to cost a Melbourne based player making a million a year another 100k just to live in Sydney. I'll buy 10k, even 20k. It's easy to make the COLA look as if it is added to every contract. Example: Negotiate a $550k a year for say, Josh Kennedy. So the contract is written as 500k + 50k in COLA. Can't be challenged. On the other hand, Mitch Morton just said he thinks the COLA should be 20%, which may be true if you are on a low base.

2. I am ambivalent about getting Buddy, and it's mostly about the money side of things. I think for a team sport it's not healthy to have 2 players sucking up so much of the salary cap. Guys busting a gut like Kieran Jack have got to feel that something is unfair about how the system works. I don't think it will affect all players, but certainly will play on the mind of some.

Aside from the money, it's a good deal if you can land a free agent, because it doesn't cost you players or picks. Buddy is one (if not THE) number 1 commodity in footy.

3. If we do land Buddy, the rumoured trade of Sam Reid makes sense. I think Sam would make a great CHF, but his contract is just too large for a startup backman if you've got Buddy and Tippo on the payroll. I also think the oft mentioned soft tissue injury issues are a concern.

4. Obviously, we couldn't afford Mummy either if Buddy is a Swan, but maybe Mummy moving on was going to happen anyway.

5. Buddy or no Buddy, the Swans will have a bit of change in complexion next year. I think I will have to wait for the dust to settle before passing judgment.
