It was discussed on Trade Week radio
They said Pickering was down at AFL HQ sorting it all out.
They mentioned that the Swans have told Sam Reid that he is not going anywhere apart from the Swans.
So it is all sounded very legitimate and I think that they may have had a brief chat about him playing back but I was listening and doing something else at the time. Yes, men can't do two things at the same time unless its drinking beer and having a pee !!Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

Unless we need to clear Reid's contract for cap space, he won't go unless we get a very, very good offer since he's contracted till 2017. We won't be selling him for pennies in the dollar (to use an American phrase).Comment

So they could trade him to Hawthorn or the Mugpies if they accept the contract. Reid can't negotiate a new contract in the swap. So he stays on same money and terms.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

Geez, people, I can't believe what I'm reading. Why would the club trying to get rid of Sam unless he wants to go back to Melbourne? Firstly, they planed the move on Buddy for the past year and secondly they had signed a 5 year contract with Sam earlier, which means that they knew what they are dealing with. If anybody is leaving it will be Mummy and probably somebody else that haven't been mentioned yet. You don't have to go with the obvious choices.Comment

There was some talk (as there is at this time of year) that Sam was homesick. That combined with the need to make salary cap space made the rumours plausible. Even with Jesse leaving, we do have an excess of quality big men, albeit a few are near retirement. With Tippett, Franklin and Goodes in the forward line, plus Rohan and maybe ROK assuming Jude's role, it seems to make sense for Sam to go to the back. If so, then we would have Ted, AJ, Reid, Grundy, LRT and Dre vying for 3 spots, so you think that at least 1 might be offered for a trade.Comment

Even if Sam was homesick, he's a Vic Country boy. Wangaratta or somewhere nearby? Melbourne isn't home for him....
I don't get the whole homesickness thing anyway? Who wouldn't want to live in Sydney? It's the best place in the world, even if it is 9.8% more expensive....Comment

Yep, centre of the universe they tell me. I am a Melbournian and I like Sydney. I have a friend I visit at Caringbah and just love the walk to Cronulla and along the beach.Comment
