Buddy's obvious dislike of the western suburbs will surely help get us out of the dumb contract with Homebush now?????

Yeh, the Hawks get the pet memberships with bidgies, yappers and pussies. The budgies chirp when they ring up SEN, the yappers rattle on when they ring up SEN and... well the pussies do what pussies do.

Seriously though, until we get at least 45k members, and have sold-out crowds every week, we aren't elite. With Buddy's signing though... I highly suspect this will be achieved in 2014. The tricky part is... to keep it consistent. Colless said this year that the club was seeking to get more die-hard members and less fair-weathered supporters in the near future. I agree with this.

PS. Despite their large membership, I really don't think Hawthorn nor Geelong are super-clubs. They still get puny crowds.
A technical question - can we get more than 44,000 members when we've got nowhere to seat them in the SCG? I know there's some member categories like Red Rookie, Red Zone and the 3 game membership which could be oversubscribed, but the practicality is we couldn't sell every single seat in the SCG to Swans members. I would think 40,000 would be the practical limit.

so it sounds like 9yrs could be like the below?

            2014 - $1mill (27yrs of age)
            2015 - $1mill (28yrs of age)
            2016 - $1mill (29yrs of age)
            2017 - $1.5mill (30yrs of age)
            2018 - $1.5mill (31yrs of age)
            2019 - $1.5mill (32yrs of age)
            2020 - $1.5mill (33yrs of age)
            2021 - $500k (34yrs of age)
            2022 - $500k (35yrs of age)

given that in 9yrs $500k is only like a $250k contract now? ie it doubles pretty much every ten years !

i think the formulae above if correct is brilliant.........except if buddy does 3 ACLs in a row ..........but this LARS technology is simply extending careers just look at Mal !

I think I read somewhere that Buddy's contract will be front-ended... so swap with $1M's with the $1.5Ms.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I believe that the payments for Yr 2 and 3 are significantly higher. The payments will coincide with the retirement of some players. It makes sense in a few ways. Buddy gets money early to pay off a property and help fund his business venture (clothing label). Also, it significantly reduces his salary from age 32 when his body is more prone to injury/retirement nd alleviates pressure on our cap in his latter contract years. The real risk is the first 4 to 5 years hoping he stays fit and in form. A real risk but I love the club's ambition and creativity. Plugger 2 ...build it and they will come! Singing to the tune...there is only one Buddy Franklin....one buddy fraaaaanklin!!

and you wont believe this. Guess what foxfooty replayed in 30 thrilling minutes after last nights 360 program about the Buddy coup? Yep, a replay of our last quarter in the 2012 GF!!! A bad day for the Hawk supporters. There are also many dogs down here in Melb named "buddy" by Hawk supporters. How hard is it to rename a dog after so many years?!! I know one local dog called buddy always with a brown and gold crevatt being walked by a couple in the local park...hhhmmm...here hodgey hodgey...here boy!

Hearing Franklin talking about 'looking forward to going up and playing for the Swannies' is such a surreal experience. Forgetting about my concerns regarding the length and potential ramifications of the deal, this dream come true stuff. When we went after Tippett I thought that it's good we're getting him becasue next to every other KPF coming onto he market he's only second to Buddy. Who would have thought we could get our hands on both?!

Alastair Lynch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia makes for interesting reading

186 games from 11 seasons for the 11yrs with the Bears/Lions........ie 17 games per season

I forgot Alastair suffered approx 3 seasons of chronic fatigue

This thread was 7 pages when I left work last night at 5:50 WA time, it?s taken me my whole day to read the rest (in little sanity breaks).
All comments about Eddie and his precious equalisation are right on. He should be taken with a grain of salt in his ivory tower overlooking his (18 game per-season) MCG.

There is certainly plenty of comment about the COL in Perth.
I can attest to plenty of West Aussies being pissed off over here in Perth (especially since Buddy?s WA born & bred). Talk of the COLA, but probably not as much as in Victoria. My mates are also telling me that he?ll blow out his knee in round 2 next season so we?ll be down a ruck and wasting our cap.

Isn't it unfair that these clubs effectively get extra to spend?
At least the Swans have had their COLA overseen, tested and officially calculated...
As someone in WA I can attest to a high cost of living here, I?m pretty sure its on par with NSW. I think QLD might be heading that way too? SA no nearly as bad though?
