Did Brogan play footy as a lad or was it always basketball?
Anyone worried about our ruck problems? Not now we have Derickx

Massively bigger and it will make things VERY interesting in recruiting and talent scouting land because the pool of US basketballers is infinitely bigger than the pool of Canadian rugby players. Of course this was the point Reggi was making which prompted Captain Obvious' edition of 'Basketball for Dummies'...Comment

Congratulations Wolfie on your new career as a NFL punter. Ben Graham could only average a bit over 50 metres in his NFL career, so you're way ahead of him already. I can hardly imagine what you might be capable of with a bit of practice. I think Ben Graham was getting around $3 mil a year. I'd hold out for $5 mil if I you were you.
And don't forget to wear your helmet! We don't want you sounding like a blubbering idiot when you rejoin RWO after your gridiron career comes to an end.Comment

I really believe there are certain body types we should be looking for if we look to other sports. For instance I always Israel had the wrong body type for AFL, too blocky and thick set not athletic enough. It is not good to go the other way and just look at the athletic type either as they have proved to be less than successful at the skills side of the equation. In this article about body types you can see that the most successful players have generally come from the Mesomorph just looking at the physique. Other than Barney Matthews who is an Enodmorph the majority of players to win or come close to a Brownlow were Mesomorphs although some were Ectomorphs. If we go looking for players in other codes we should keep this in mind. This does not mean an Endomorph can't make it in AFL but it is harder these days than when Barney last played due to the pace of the game. Endomorphs (blocky go to fat easily & will be very wide in the shoulders & waist) make perfect NRL players and Ectomorphs (tend to be tall & slim) are perfect for basketball. Ectomorphs do well at AFL if they can gain weight, build up and have strength that belies their frame (Shaun Rehn).

I did have a tail wind I must admit. Ben Graham kicked 69 yards with the Yank ball in the NFL and you also neglected to mention that he was restricted by the place of the ball when taking kicks. In other words his average comes down due to the lack of yardage for him to achieve. Her kicked the Yank ball 79.5 yards in a training exercise which was plastered all over the Australian news. I must also admit to it being yards at the time I kicked the Yank ball so probably not as far.Comment

If this tweet is accurate, it's a little concerning that they didn't have a specific target already lined up.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Looking for a mature ruckman indicates to me that we are not that interested in picking up a development ruckman in the ND. We haven't been interested in developing high draft pick ruckmen for quite some time. I think we just want to make it through next year and see how Naismith and Pat Mitchell pan out. If we needed to find a replacement for Pyke for a bit of time, LRT is probably a better bet than either of those 2 and probably any inexperienced ruckman we pick up in the draft as well.Comment

We have two project players and one ruckman who is untested re the rigours of a full AFL season leading the ruck duties. A decent plan B in the ruck stocks is required.Comment

That makes sense as I still think you need two senior ruckmen in the primary list. Not both in the starting 22 but both on the list. Also think you should also have a third string development project type player on the rookie list.
