Mitchell listed as having an ankle injury. Other two are omitted I assume. Aliir as emergency is amazing. Good for Jones too. I'm delighted for Jake Lloyd. Consistent reserves performances have paid off.

WOW. So much for the idea of not making many changes. Rohan and Mitchell will do well to just run around in the twos, get plenty of touches and have some fun.

Well-earned reward for one and bit years of incredibly consistent NEAFL football by young Lloyd.

Edit: I've just seen that Mitchell is injured. So maybe he won't having much fun.

?Tommy Mitchell?s had a crook ankle for a couple of weeks, so he goes out of the team,? Longmire said.

It's the kid's third season on the list. Second playing actual footy. And we rate him highly enough to risk him injured? Wow.

Edit: and they've played Rohan knowing he might not be able to run out games. Jeez.

Why keep Bo D, he is not up to it. Would have promoted Nankervis for him. Cant see why Membrey could not be added to give Buddy some help.
Bo will get thrashed by Freo rucks and be of no help to Pykie. Again the selectors seem to be found wanting. No gripes with Lloyd deserves a chance in place of GR. Bird for Okeefe no arguments maybe TM istead of BJ for Mitch.

Horse is forced to listen. So glad for Lloyd. Very good kicks. Hope that he can start. BJ should be in the green vest. His form has been only so so this year. D

I don't mind the changes except i too would not have kept playing Bo D. I can't understand that choice. I'm also confused with the lack of forward key position players. Yes I know Reid and Tippett are injured and coming back in tippets case but the selection committee haven't seemed to try to pick like for like. The problem will be that if and when KT Reid and franklin all play in that same forward line the midfield won't be used to that structure. Mm not sure

So that's one good change, Lloyd looks a player of the future, about time he got a senior game but fear he will be green vested. Don't think it will be too long before Biggs is elevated as well.

BJ really needs to step up, it appears his form has been moderate in the ressies. Bird for ROK is an improvement on what ROK has delivered so far.

Ressies with Tippett and Rohan playing will be interesting. Hope Tom Mitchells injury improves as he is a gun when right and been down on fom this year.

Those guys are generally (but not always) stand-outs and will make it regardless. Outside of that, you really are taking a punt at how a draft pick will mature and when. Rookies aren't necessarily inferior players, it's just that at the time the draftees were identified and put through the system, they weren't at that level for whatever reason. Some have come from other sports or other countries, and some have come from other leagues and are a couple of years older, which means that their bodies are more mature and more able to withstand the rigors of senior footy.

Our draft picks in recent years have tended to be players who needed time to develop. Luke Parker and AJ were notable exceptions to that but they were both lower picks, which is significant IMO. In summary, it's not an exact science when you draft someone. Rookies are often someone that you have seen more of and have a fair idea of what you're going to get.
Thanks Doctor. I've just noticed that Lloyd has been upgraded and selected in the seniors. People are making comments about the money that Franklin is making. Should we be shining a blowtorch on the money that players on the senior list are making such as Towers, Membery, Marsh, Lockyer and Dick, who have been beaten to their senior debuts by rookies, over the last two years. The rookies are making less money than the above guys, but are delivering superior on-field performance.

So that's one rookie elevation presumably for aj's spot. If tommy Walsh is close to playing again ( ressies I presume) that will be all the elevations. Do we still get to elevate someone after round 11?

I'm just saying I don't think he would do any worse than Derrickx or LRT. Neither of these two could get a kick in an Electricity Plant the way they are going.

That's a fair call about derricks but I can't quite agree about lrt. Yes he may not be up to ruck duties but he played well in Adelaide and he always gives 100%. As has been said many times a lot of what he does is not represented in stats.

How come when the Swans are looking to promote players to the seniors we are always at our rookie list?

Aren't rookie listed players supposed to be inferior to senior listed players?

List year we played Rampe, X Richards, Biggs and B. Jack who were rookie listed players at the start of 2013. This year people are talking about Biggs, Naismith and Lloyd from the rookie list.

What is wrong with senior listed recent draftees like Jordan Locklear, Harrison Marsh, Towers and Brad Dick who have been on the Swans list for at least a year? Why are rookies constantly outplaying them in the reserves last year and again this year?
towers was close to a start last week and was first emergency. He consequently didn't play a game and has to go back to the reserves to get some game time before being called on again. Luke Parker was a draft pick as was Hannas, Jonno, Laids, Mitchell & Harry. But some of the senior listed players haven't come on as you say. Dick is just starting to show a bit of form and Lockyer is probably never going to make it. He loses concentration too easily and allows his player too much room. The fact is we have picked some pretty special Rookies in recent times. biggs, Xav, BJ, Lloydy, Robbo, Big Sammy & Perris (only picked as a rookie because we needed the pick on the senior list for a more mature player) & Pat Mitchell (the American who is turning out pretty good). Membrey has been close to selection on a few occasions too. Harry Marsh is a player that probably needs to get a wriggle on too. The four in that position are Marsh, Dick, Membrey & Lockyer. I think Membrey is worth persevering with. but not sure of the others, maybe Marsh.

Zac jones, Toby, Aliir & George Hewett will all be good in time. Hewett is proving to be a pretty good player already with 30 possessions last week in 70 mins.

                              I think there will be a clean out next year with players being asked to retire and others delisted;

Shaw, LRT, Goodes, ROK all retired. Dick, Lockyer & Marsh delisted unless they do something extraordinary. Maybe Membrey too.

Sammy Naismith has not been named in the reserves. I wonder what is up??
