As an aside I don't think it matters that Ablett is at the Gold Coast. He is the best player of this generation by a mile and is the best I have ever seen. I respectfully acknowledge that others may have a wider talent pool to draw from than me in this area however.

I know you included a wink but Doctor J's point is still salient. No-one will win a stack of Brownlows in the Gary Ablett era. Is Kennedy our best ever? Personally I think it's too early to say but if he keeps his current level of performance going for years to come it's going to be hard to argue with. In some ways he has dragged us back into this season and forced the rest of the team to come with him.

I've always been in two minds about assessing a trade based on who the club selects with the pick. If the Hawks had selected Neville Nobody with 46 instead of Ben Stratton does that actually change how well we did out of that trade?Comment

Does anyone think that the Hawks will try and bring Kennedy home in the next couple of seasons? With Sam Mitchell, Luke Hodge, Brad Sewell and Shaun Burgoine getting toward the end of their careers, the Hawks may be looking for inside midfielders.
I don't want this to happen, but do the Swans need to be prepared for this approach?Comment

Kennedy signed a new four year contract with us last year that will take him through to the end of 2017. He will then be 29. If he stays healthy he is likely to be capable of several more high quality seasons after that. So the 'going home' factor might then become an issue. But we don't have to worry for some time yet (thank goodness).Comment

The concern may be if he comes to the club at the end of 2015 and says that Clarkson has but a huge offer through to him and my father and grandfather want me to return to the Hawks. We can reject the trade but if the Hawks offer a mega deal at the trade table ie two first round picks then we may have to seriously consider it. It's not in anyone's interest to keep players who want to leave.Comment

That's true. But he was pretty happy when he signed the new contract. So let's hope that doesn't change.
