I have just read the article quoting the Bulldogs President in the Telegraph. Totally expected of course. I really hope that someone from the Swans camp, maybe Richard Colless hits back hard. If these 'accusations' are baseless then then every time they are put forward they should be emphatically denied again and again. Maybe the Swans spokespersons are not being aggressive enough in defense. This could build into a damaging slur on the Swans 'brand'.
COLA to be replaced by rent subsidy

I think everyone knows Peter Gordon is a clown. Not sure what he is talking about Bulldogs can't even pay their existing cap.
I think he just looks stupid. Loses sympathy for his own cause which is equalisation
Also every club president is now using it as an excuse for their own poor performance. We coulda and woulda except they have this cola.
On SEN Rohan Connolly and Dermott said no one has produced evidence that COLA was the factor in getting Buddy, we could have done what we did anyway.
I wouldn't worry about itLast edited by Reggi; 31 May 2014, 11:45 AM.You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

I hope you are right Reggi. It is just that if these things are said often enough they become accepted as fact by those on the fringes . It also provides every man and his dog who does know that it is not actually so, a peg on which to hang a whole range of their grievances!!Comment

You may disagree with his comments but it's not right to label him a clown!Comment

I often wonder why the AFL themselves don't come out and put this to bed by stating that the COLA has always been paid to all of the players correctly.
If I recall the Swans at one stage stated that all of the paperwork is checked by the AFL before it goes through anyway.Comment

I have wondered about that too Baskin. Maybe it is time they did. Another of my concerns is that if this gripe gets brought up again and again, each time the Swans win I suspect, it is going take away some of the shine from the amazing effort our boys are putting in.Comment

If the AFL actually came out and said that each contract has been reviewed and that EVERY player received the extra % then no one would be able to make these comments because when a swans person says it they don't believe them. Everyone thinks that we are using the 980,000 to just pay for Buddy and Tippett.Comment

It's not a matter of "disagreeing with his comments", he's not sticking to facts!
He knows, as well as most of us, that the COLA is a 9.8% add on to all existing player contracts...Audited by the AFL.
To suggest that the Swans manipulate it is, at the very least, diversionary mud raking, in an attempt to manipulate public opinion.
Whilst also leaving his own badly run club, out of the spot light, while he puts his hand out for AFL money, with a bag full of BS excuses.
The guys a lawyer, he knows better than most how to manipulate facts, to suit his own ends.Last edited by ernie koala; 31 May 2014, 01:45 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

IN which case he should know better than to give a BS argument like the one reported in that story, claiming that Franklin's nine-year deal is an abuse of COLA. It may be a dumb deal, or a brilliant one, but it has nothing to do with COLA.The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
