He and the club are insulted by the insinuation. Onlyn2 players on Thursday were top 20 draft picks
All contracts at Sydney have the 9.8% written in he has asked for the AFL to come out and confirm
We coul and would have recruited Tippet and Buddy without COLA more to do with us having retirements
Cannot believe Carlton with their cheating of salary cap and Visy deal.

Peter Gordon backtracked and seemed confused
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Good work Reggi - thanks for that.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

And now we have the normally measured, moderate Gerard Whateley weighing in on 774, contradicting every one of the points made by Ireland, carrying on about how the CoLA "skews the competition" in favour of the Swans and how they had "brazenly exploited it" by recruiting Tippett and Franklin. Mark Maclure, credit where it's due, countered that we had just been smarter than the other clubs, which is absolutely the case, but Whateley wouldn't have any of it. Perhaps it's no coincidence that he's a Geelong supporter. He's fallen a long way in my estimation.

I heard Gerard as well...couldn't believe what I was listening to. It just shows that they don't understand how the cola works and as journalists I think that is inexcusable.

              That's a low for Whately.

Preaching what his listeners want to hear, rather than objectively sticking to facts.

It's very poor, and like for you, he's lost plenty of respect from me.

Especially since Whately likes to position himself as the intellectual within the football media mafia.

'Very offensive': Ireland furious with Bulldogs' COLA comments - AFL.com.au

Andrew Ireland sticking the boots into the muppet Bulldog president and giving it to the tanking flogs Carlton. These idiots have no clue. Do some research before you start giving it about our cap you peanuts.

Any club in the AFL could have given Buddy 9 years if they wanted too. We had the balls to do it and we'll live by that decision. Ireland is a gun administrator. The rest are a pack of weak flogs.

Why is the AFL so piss weak - why don't they come out and put a stop to all this utter nonsense by confirming we are doing the right thing with the COLA.

Well done to Ireland, giving it to them well and truly - we need more of that siege mentality from the top, as if we keep playing well, then that's all they'll have to kick us with, and they'll all come out swinging. It won't be till the COLA is gone and nothing changes in relation to our recruitment that the flogs running the deadbeat Melbourne clubs actually recognise just how well our club is being run, and we aren't just rorting the system.

That's a good retort by Ireland, but I could have done without the gratuitous stuff about Carlton's past breaches. That's just inflammatory and doesn't advance our cause. Totally support his comments about Peter Gordon though, and about the AFL's inexcusable silence on this issue.

He's not an idiot. He is very smart and has an encyclopedic knowledge of a wide variety of sports. Almost uniquely among sports commentators in this country, he also knows a bit about things outside of sport. But he is very, very fallible, and he is way out of line with his comments here. Like Gordon, he is virtually accusing us of cheating, and I can't forgive him for that.

Very disappointed in Gerard Whateley, he is one who usually knows what he is talking about too.

                              Dear Greg Swann,

                              Thirteen!! Thirteen!!

No it's not the one who kicked 13 goals against North that you could have had if you didn't waste 700k on a washed up Collingwood player you didn't need. But rather: Kreuzer, Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Everitt, Thomas, McLean, Henderson, Cripps, Docherty, Watson, Yarran.

Do you remember these guys. They are all on your list. And all 1st round draft picks.

Maybe if you would have hired Ken Hinkley who would know what to do with a lot less talent than you've got than that old cantankerous goat who spends all his time worrying about Cola and Nathan Buckley.

What would you do with another mil anyway? With your record you would probably use it to pay off Brendon Fevola's gambling debts.

Best of luck in your next endeavour. Maybe you could get a job in Footscray.

                              Sincerely,

                              Ludwig

PS: Sorry Greg, my mistake. I left our Kane Lucas and Troy Menzel. So you really don't have 13 first rounders in your side. You have Fifteen. Maybe if you had some Cola you could get some quality young players at Carlton.
