Changes for Round 15 - GWS

Balance will be a big factor. If Franklin, Tippett, Reid, and Goodes play then there is no room for Membrey. You don?t need five key forward types.
Even if Reid plays back for a period you still have Tippett, Franklin and Goodes in the forward line, which is still very formidable.
Whether Membrey stays on depends on how the Swans coaching staff rate him. If the coaching staff encourages him and says openly to him that we see you having a big impact at this club in 2015, 2016, then he is more likely to stay. If he likes Sydney life, then he also be more likely to stay.
If he can develop some midfield capability, modelling himself on Josh Kennedy, then we will have a very formidable player.Comment

I'm a bit peeved with the people who want to axe 'Big' Tommy Derrickx. I wasn't a fan at all but I think he has come in and done the job. Pykie was bloody dreadful last week. Just for turning his back on the play he should get dropped in my opinion. He was the weakest link against Richmond. Slow, out of form, misreading the ball. I would give him a few weeks in the Twos to get some form back. Derrickx is doing the job nicely and had some really good moments on the weekend.
We don't need two rucks against mob and I would be very surprised if we included another monster like Toby. I think Brandon Jack was extremely wasteful last week. He got plenty of it but most of his disposals were very poor. I have just finished watching the game again, not a pleasant experience. Zac Jones was very good replacing Rhyce.
In; (Out of) Tippett, McGlinn, Membrey & Biggs
Out; Pyke, B.Jack & ShawComment

GWS did not win against us earlier in the season because they were lightning fast but because we allowed ourselves to get opened up. This wasn't due to speed but due to us allowing them a free man in defence. The mids were also very lazy that day and our centre bounce set ups were @@@@e. I don't think we will make the same mistakes again.Comment

I would play Membrey as sub and sub out one of the forwards in the last half. There is no reason the sub can't be used in this manner. what is more it gives the forward line the extra advantage of not being so predictable. Membrey is a different player to all our forwards but the closest is Goodes. He can do some pretty wonderful things with the ball and his goal kicking is tops. I think this could be a week to give the lad a go. He also hunts the man with the ball and his tackling is really good.

When he was jogging back to occupy the goal line assuming that Goode's (being a forward) would line up for a set shot from 30m ???
Every ruck man who fails to go to the goal line in these circumstances gets criticised if the opposition get a hand to it.
It shouldn't have happened, but blaming Pyke is pretty rich.
Welcome back. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment

If biggs was next in line as a running half back, hed be on the list already.
I think some of you have a romantic view of our list. We are here to win a flag, not promote rookies to get experience. Flags are won by teams who usually have stable team lists using a minimum of players through the season.Comment

Sorry but this is a game where you have to be aware. If you are trotting back to the goal square you need to be aware of what is happening behind you. Therefore you either are looking over your shoulder or you jog backward. So don't start that @@@@. It was just a lack of Aussie Rules experience. Mind you I have seen Matthew Richardson, Jesse White, Tom Hawkins, Matty Pitman & a few other rather slow thinking boys do the same. But it is still a golden rule of footy. Always know where the ball is!Comment

Check the replay and you'll also see the Tigers' defender (can't remember who) also take his eye off the play, stop, and not head towards the goals. Poor play on his behalf too and I'm sure this would have been pointed out to him during the Tigers' video review. Poor play all round and not necessarily all Mike's fault, and not necessarily due to him not growing up playing AFL.Comment

Seriously, Pyke should have been more aware, but the guy is hardly a goal on the run expert - 9999/10000, goodes would go back and kick for goal. For some bizarre reason, this time he didn't. I know Pyke should have done better, but to criticise him over what was clearly a 'wtf' moment from goodes is harsh."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
