I for one would love to see Rampe throwing his weight around in the midfield. He has a bit of mongrel about him. I like that

Rampe also has some toe for a big guy, would be great to see him busting through the middle and launching a left bomb into Tippo or Buddy

Judging from the social media activity of various players it definitely seems like Tommy is very happy in Sydney...the power of being part of the 'cool' or 'in' group shouldn't be underestimated within the four walls of a footy club.

In respects to onfield though I'm still pretty certain that the Swans hierarchy see him as being our number 1 inside mid over the next 10 years. Kennedy and Jack will play more forward as they get longer in the tooth, Parker will be a goal-kicking, overhead marking mid, Hannebery will be a mix of inside and out, Lloyd will be our outside touch of class, Heeney will be predominantly outside until his body develops, Zak Jones will be a defensive mid or small defender, Rohan, B.Jack, Jetta, Cunningham will be the raw outside pace. It's hard to say where Bird, Hewett, Robinson, Perris, Mills and Dunkley fit in.

We'll have to get used to the fact that we will always have quality mids playing in the NEAFL whilst we don't have injuries. This is a great problem to have and whether or not any want to seed trade options for greater opportunity is yet to be decided. Either way it is exciting times.
Nice analysis Conor. I agree that Hannebery, Mitchell and Parker will be the spine of our midfield in the years to come and I believe future captains. They potentially should have a great support cast. Looking at your list of players perhaps Jetta is the one where we could get some trade value. If the opinions on RWO are correct and he may want to go home, then believe WCE would be very interested. A swap for Mitch Brown could be good.

Slightly of topic, but I want to go out on a limb and defend Eddie. IMO, he is a truly gifted ... game show host. He could be one of the greats - right up there with Larry Emdur, Baby John Burgess, etc. - if only he knew how to focus. Eddie, time to give up all those distractions that you're just not that good at ... no more President of an AFL club, no more breakfast radio DJ, no more game commentating, no more CEO of a TV channel. Stick to what you're good at, PLEASE.

Well done on bringing some balance to the Eddie argument. I believe he is very talented and expert at building the right alliances.

He has a go at the Swans and attempts to use his power and influence. What needs to be remembered is that the AFL industry his given him this power to wield. He is always going to use the power for the best interests of his club.

In time a think Longmires vision will be to have small defenders who are also midfielders who can swap in and out. Zak Jones and McVeigh are the first of those players. People on the forum have called for Nick Smith and Rampe to used in the midfield as well.
I agree. The future team will consist of key backmen, key forwards, rucks and midfielders who rotate with the bench, back line and the forward line. It makes it much harder for the opposition to match up on you and keeps your midfielders fresher. It appears that Longmire has this vision too.

Should we add a future father/son prospect to the midfield list if he develops into a young gun?

Allegedly Jesse Maxfield who is named on Vic Metro under 16's team sheet at 178cm, 68kg is Stuart Maxfield's son.

Future could be looking very bright indeed...

Father sons isn't something we've been blessed with over our history. But maybe our lucks changing. I know nothing about Jesse Maxfield. Is he good?

I know Eddie has son/sons. How will he 'fix' the F/S rule so that they can play for Collingwood?
I am assuming that Eddie did not play (if indeed he played at all) 100 games for Collingwood.

I thought he may have played U19s for Collingwood. Warnie was an U19 player for St Kilda.
