Just read on Afl.com.au that may clubs including Adel, Carl, COLLINGWOOD, Ess, St Kilda, and North Melb have father/son academies and father/son days to keep an eye on their possible choices progress.

It makes interesting reading and St Kilda come out worst in father/son possibilities.
Maybe we should do that also. Eddie could not complain about that as his club does thie same thing.

Sounds like a pretty apt description to me!

I really don't want to look back through this thread. Did anyone post the McGuire near-apology last week?

I suspect it was more because of the impending crowd failure than acknowledgement of his douchebagging but hey, we haven't had an Eddie apology since he called Kane Cornes an old genital on air. That's months ago, a long time in terms of Eddie faux pas.

            Near apology?
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

What apology? I haven't seen anything remotely resembling an apology from the douche bag since heaven knows when!

Yeh first i've heard of any form of apology? I'd be staggered if he did

He may have had people telling him to pull his head in, but suspect it was the fan drought that caught his attention, hence he and Kochie trying to talk up this game.

On next year being the so-called year of the fan, McGuire said the AFL industry had become too focused on treating the game as a business.

?It should be a religion, it shouldn?t be a business ? it should be about how can we come up with the best possible experience for the community to be involved in. We have become very business oriented ? the whole world has,? he said.

?There has been a lot of negativity this year and in some cases probably I have driven some of it because of the angst that I?ve had at various stages, but I?m really confident footy will be great again.?

Eddie wants footy to be a religion and he should be the god. He's got worshipers, just ask Damian Barrett.

I think that 'apology' would have more to do with his rants about the fixturing, more specifically sunday night and sunday twilight footy...doubt he would have been considering the Swans when he said that at all.

He slipped the boot in this morning again.
They were discussing the issue around Nate Fyfe and the Brownlow.

He said something along the lines of:
If Nate Fyfe wins the Brownlow and Buddy and/or(?) Tippett kick 5 goals in the Grand Final it will be the end of a year to forget.

He's a deadset moron...I hope they both kick 5 just to stick it right up him! They probably wouldn't take any notice of all this media rubbish at all but I'd love for it to be a slightly extra motivation to our boys - which means Eddie could actually help us win a premiership.

Last year's Norm Smith medallist was a free agent recruit wasn't he? Obviously that was forgettable too.

I suppose if our Josh Kennedy won the Brownlow, that would be forgettable ? He is starting to get really bitter and twisted now. Why would he resent Fyfe ?

He wouldn't. He would resent the fact that Fyfe wouldn't actually have won the Brownlow, even if he polls the most votes, because he was suspended for an incident that many think he shouldn't have been suspended for (an accidental head clash). I am sure Ed would get over it quickly if the resultant winner was Pendlebury.
