I feel the hatred towards Eddie that is exhibited by Swans Board members, Executives, Players, Coaching staff and the wider fan base is detrimental to the club.
Like it or not, Eddie is the AFLs biggest powerbroker. He is so widely established that there is no tacking him down. In short we can whinge all we want, but he is not going anywhere.
Hating Eddie and moaning to the AFL commission about him won't stop him.
He knows the Swans community hates him so he sets out to screw us. He is doing very well screwing us based on the recent trade bans.
It much easier would things be if the Swans community were his friends. He would then be preaching about goodness of the Swans Academy.
I'm being pragmatic and I want the AFL on our side. It's starts with getting Eddie on our side.
He's hated us since we took Nick Davis (apparently it's okay for them to take Rocca, etc though). That's 12 years ago. Surely you don't think that sucking up to Eddie will make any difference now?

Don't agree..... Yes, he was pissed off that Davis wanted out. But that's not the catalyst for his Swans hate. Swans didn't pinch him, he wanted to come home.

Getting run out of town, with his tail between his legs, after his pathetic tenure, attempting to run Channel 9....

IMO, that's what left him scarred and motivated, to avenge his public humiliation.

Now he uses his advantaged situation in Melbourne to attack the Swans, and in his own small minded way it makes him feel better.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Nope thats not it. That happened nearly a decade ago and Nick Davis wasso long ago its not even worth it.

He has upped his hatred for us since the goodes incident which had basically tarnished his brand and character. Sure a lot of people still love fat-ed but now a lot of people refer to that incident and the comments afterwards and paint him as a racist baffon. The comment itself was stupid but i will admit and say McGuire is not racist and he has helped a lot with indigenous programs etc and helped promote the issues. So for a man who has done that to be painted a racist over a stupid comment would have cut deep. We didnt hear Ed for a long time after that, in fact for the rest of the 2013 season he just stuck to his shows but that was it. He had a whole summer to stew over what he said.

It escalated to critical when Goodes came out and said he will never be friends with McGuire, ever again. Hearing it from the Australian of the year, especially when you ride on public approval like he does (tv shows etc) and with what he has done with the indigenous community would have been the final straw. And what better excuse needed to go after the swans for payback than when we signed buddy.

If rnd 9 2013 didn't happen i am pretty certain the narrative would have been a lot different when it came to the swans in 2014, especially from McGuire Media. Ed didnt make that much of a fuss at all when we signed tippett.

Gee that nearly made me spew. No recognition of what the Swans had been doing for the past 30 years. It was all about the %$^%$^%$%^$ GWS doing this, GWS doing that. It just proves what a dimwit failure GM is in his job - does not have a clue about what western Sydney is all about. I can tell him now it is not about AFL or should I say VFL.

I will never will attend any match of theirs in Sydney as long as I live.

I can assure you that this IS what pissed him off. Trust me, I'm right on this one. I can't reveal my source but it is extremely reliable. It's been well known for years that he rang Andrew Ireland and threatened to "@@@@ us up" if we took him.

I doubt it, if so he would have come at us sooner. It may have been what initially drove him to dislike the swans but the incidents last year is what drove his agenda.

I have sources as well, mustard and bbq. I also have a cousin who's neighbour is best friends with the fourth cousin of the woman who is married to the uncle of the guy who used to sweep the floors at the scg.

I don't accept that GWS are part of Western Sydney anymore!
They should change their name to "The Other Sydney Team"!

GM suffers from a severe case of 'bird in the hand / 2 in the bush' syndrome. Or 'rob Peter to pay Paul' syndrome........you get where I'm going with this. The use of the word 'vision' in that article headline is nice and ironic.

Forget the vision BS. As with all companies, the board set a measurable target of expansion (usually revenue of profit), and its the CEO's job to get the company there.

"2 in the bush" is his breif.

Thanks GS. Your comment stands as a great reminder / request to others (well, mainly one) to keep threads on this board substantially to football discussion. There are plenty of other boards available to posters who would like to discuss broader topics.
