I've just spoken to Matt80 and can confirm that Kilroy is not Matt80.

Matt80 has enjoyed Kilroy's punching style and hopes that the diversity of opinion that Kilroy brings is respected by all RWO members.

Matt80 still follows Red and White and particularly enjoys the posts of Ludwig, Mug Punter, Liz and Ugg.

He and his young boy have signed on as Swans Platinum members this year and he wants to be included back in the Swans community.

Is it time to have him back? He is not a malicious person, but does get carried away. I think he has learnt a lot from his early experiences on Red and White and would be a better poster for it.

Red and White seem to be an inclusive community. Is it time to let back in a guy who loves the Swans?

Wouldn't bother me, but he didn't bother me before. I just stopped responding. If he's learned not to get carried away, why not?

I've never had a problem with Kilroy's comments, not sure how he could be considered so offensive. I did think Luke Shannon may be a Matt80 incarnate but I never had any issues with his posts.

Matt80's biggest issue from mine was over-posting off topic ad naseum, his corporate speak and idolisation of Eddie. I was as guilty as anyone of being pissed off by him but I'd be happy for him to be welcomed back on probation as he clearly loves the Swans.

Are you asking the mods or the RWO members? If the latter, possible easy fix ... didn't you used to be able to conduct polls on here? That'd solve it. If it's the former, the mods are pretty wise. They'll make whatever they deem the right decision is.

Meh, there would be nothing wrong with simply letting Matt80 (or any other banned user) back. Reality is, no one is forced to read anyone else's posts.

I don't think you were referring to my post, but just to be clear, I haven't made any personal comments about kilroy or any reference to Matt80. My comment was that many people make a point of balancing the bad that Eddie has done by pointing out that he's helped this person or that person, or has given time and money to this charity or that charity. It's a very convenient little ploy of influence buying by those who can afford to do it. And if you criticise it, you look petty.

The recent book about the Koch brothers, Dark Money by Jane Mayer, highlights this particular activity. The Kochs are the biggest contributors to the Arts and numerous charities and have made important connections with other wealthy like-minded individuals. Then they group together to form a power block to buy influence and get laws and regulations put in place that help their business interests.

There are so many people, even including Caroline Wilson, who praise Eddie for the good things he's done or can't say enough about what a wonderful person he is. I am challenging that point of view. I think he a self-serving egomaniac who understands very well how to play the game. Every so often the mask falls off and you get to see the real Eddie inside.

'Whoa there' Lugwig....I/we agree with you, no one here is praising Eddie McGuire, he's a self serving tosser of the highest order and sworn enemy of any decent Swans fan, it's just that some on here, yes, mainly others, have misunderstood Kilroy's angle and assumed he's batting for Eddie. Even you implied he was 'praising' Eddie for making Sam Newman a millionaire, which he wasn't, so I'm just trying to put a little perspective on a conversation which, basically, we all agree on. Eddie endures because he is powerful in Melbourne, that cannot be denied. All cities have blokey bogans, it's just that most of those in Melbourne love Eddie, fueling his popularity, that cannot be denied. Eddie has powerful business connections in the heartland, fueling his powerbase, that cannot be denied. And yes, some people fear challenging him, except Caro! . These are all facts, just very unfortunate and unpalatable ones, which just make him easier to hate and to wish he would disappear. I believe we're all on the same side on this one.

I fully agree. We are all on the same side. I only wanted to clarify that I wasn't taking a crack at Kilroy and agree with you on the position you've taken in this regard. I am not even taking a crack at the Eddie apologists, because I think they just buy in to the mainstream thinking on Eddie's type of 'faux' philanthropy. I wish I could find my first Eddie McGuire post. It was quite a long time ago and I still have the same opinion. He's just fulfilled everything I always thought about him.

As for Matt80, I never supported the ban, but understand why some people did. I had plenty of running battles with Matt80 and got many posts deleted for being off topic. So be it. I would suggest that Matt80 come back under a different name and even if we know it's really Matt80 in disguise, we should just let it pass and not make 'are you really Matt80' comments. Everyone deserves another chance, except Eddie McGuire.

I agree. Stop attacking Kilroy, he's just stating facts.....yes, they're unpalatable facts, but they're true. If you don't believe Melbourne has a lot of bogan blokey dickheads, just revisit the Goodes saga from last year. You're right, every city has blokey bogans, but Melbourne ones seem to love Eddie, and that's what is the difference here, and goes a long way to explaining why Eddie is Teflon coated in the biased heartland of the AFL.

Its funny that Sam isnt getting lambasted today in the media for his terrible comments, just goes to show that nobody cares about the footy show no more let alone cares what Sam Newman has to say.
