I don't think Biggs will go for Mitchell Ugg as he can play mids. We have two injured mids and to replace them with two defenders seems to be daft. It reeks of a defensive mindset. The players who are playing in defence who can play mids are Biggs & Rampe but I don't think Rampe would be moved in a pink fit. Shaw is not too good in the mids, he has played as a tagger in the past with mixed but fairly average results. He could play a wing but we have players who can do that already in Biggs, Hannas, Jetts, Lloydy & Harry so why bother. Seems very strange thinking to me. My two ins would have been Mitchell & Smithy. But the other thing is that I can't find the team lists for the NEAFL on their site at all yet. Round 20 list has disappeared yet round 21 hasn't appeared yet so don't know where you got list from?

Lock Mitchell in to play. Too good not to be playing, selectors would be keen to play Tommy except for a stuttering run with injuries in the last 8-10 weeks.
Laidler or Towers will make way for Mitchell, probably Laidler.
With two mids out and only 6-7 midfield rotations, it makes sense to bring in Mitchell and drop one of the 8-9 defenders with the inclusion of Shaw & Smith.
I'm really looking forward to watching Mitchell play on Sunday!Comment

Hope Mitchell gets the call-up. I would really look forward to see him go head to head with Libba; they're such similar players.
I think a Biggs-McCrae matchup would also be interesting. McCrae is such a big accumulator on the outside; it would be interesting to see if Biggs can shut him down.Comment

So the latest reserves team list doesn't have any of Mitchell Membrey or Nankervis. Let's assume they've all flown to Melbourne so there must be a few players in doubtComment

I don't have anything to back this up but I think Shaw won't be ready and Reid and Goodes will be 'managed'.Comment

I'll be very surprised if Mitchell isn't selected. We need an inside mid this week to counter Libba and co.
The coaches would also want to have some midfield depth at the ready.
For Mitchell to get 2 senior games in now will be very handy, to cover any other untimely injuries.
So my guess is one of the defenders will miss out.
Reid may also not get up from his hip injury which would bring Nankervis or Membrey into the team.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Shaw, Smith and MITCHELL in for Kennedy, Bird and Towers.
Was surprised they still kept Laidler in with the two defenders coming back but really just happy with Mitchell given a chance.
Now just hope he isn't the sub! Hope the ease Shaw in as a sub!Comment

Finally. He's back.
Shaw, Smith and Mitchell in.
Bird, Kennedy, Towers out.

I assume Rohan will move to the wing (for Smith) and McVeigh will go into the middle (for Shaw). Maybe Goodes or Reid as sub?
I think they should play Tippett and Franklin. They've had limited time on the track together this season and Tippett is still working back into form and Buddy had a week off a couple of games ago.Comment
