I read somewhere that Geelong are thinking of having the Cats players all shake Adam's hand before the game to show the supporters that they stand with him. I for one would love to see that happen.

Me too. I dislike the cats with a passion (because of the idiot here at work that follows them), but they would gain great respect from me should they do that. A simple gesture, but it would mean a lot to Adam, and I think mean a lot to Swans fans everywhere as well.

On that point, it would be great for the AFL more generally to introduce a 'fair play handshake' before each game, in much a similar way that Soccer does (one of the few things well thought out by fifa)

Yes channel nine news said the same. It has been confirmed. Pretty disgusting situation and now we have lost him for the weekend and maybe for good. Not happy with AFL bosses reaction or comments personally, thought it was a bit weak. I really feel that as Swans supporters we should choose a player in the opposition camp and Boo him every single time he touches the ball. Just some pay back. Did you her Alan Jones comment?? What a F... disgrace. Jones said--Yep he deserves the booing for his war dance.. the booing was very much in force prior to the incident taking place.. He is a bully for having a go at the 14 year old girl calling him an ape?? Guess its OK for teenagers to call black people apes, monkeys etc. Part of the alan Jones culture. How is this guy allow to continue in the media???? Of course its not racist because the crowd don't boo every single black person that plays the game?? WTF.....

This is so depressing. Do I think everyone that has booed Adam is racist? Probably not. Many are just stupid. That they choose to maintain their right to this behaviour when confronted with the evidence of the racist element (i.e. last weekend), instead of empathising with Adam is so, so sad.

I am so proud to have him as a Swan and it's devastating to think this is how his career could end.

ETA: It's also weird to me that people are willing to (rightly) support people like Mitch Clark when they reveal their personal mental health battles, but seem willing to potentially (and knowingly) cause the same issues in others.

I couldn't help myself. You're right, it's extremely depressing.

I have defended him on Twitter, and called this for what it is, and will continue to do so, and have been abused for it. A close friend of mine messaged me today that she had been abused for defending him as well. To me, that's a small sacrifice to make compared to what Goodesy is going through though.

My advice, for what it's worth, to those who are doing the same is to have your counter arguments ready. Research the facts and be ready to respond to everything with fact. It doesn't mean they'll listen but it'll show them up at the very least. Jon Ralph has written an article today with Goodesy's actual free kick numbers for the season (11) and it ranks him 168th. His Australia Day speech is available (I retweeted it today) and the words are magnificent, not divisive. Most have never even heard of John Pilger, so that's one you won't hear too often. Explain the dance for what it is, and when it was done, and compare it to other cultural demonstrations. How you handle the 13yo girl stuff is the hardest, because of her age and the revisionism of what actually happened since then. Go back to what happened and how, and what was done about it.

I'm just banging on a bit here because I'm so angry and upset about this, but you get the idea I'm sure.

Yes lets give Jetta the biggest claps and cheers whenever he touches the ball that is one way to show Adam we are supporting him through Jetta. Very brave from Jetta.

I just went for a little wander over into the eagles flying high site (what a @@@@e song that is), just curious to see if there might be any contrition going on. Surprisingly, barely a skerrick. Just the usual 'he's brought it all on himself because of his behaviour' bollocks. Some of it is really quite aggressive. Some tossbag posting links to right wing tabloid filth (hate porn). Anyone on the site that tries to mount any resemblance to a rational discussion is immediately shouted down. This is the thing i fear. These racist lying cowards just become more defensive, more determined that no one will tell them what to do, how to behave. Still, we all know that the value of one hundred thousand of these sadarses does still not equate to one Adam Goodes. We love you Adam Goodes. We will not be cowed.
