Eddie's done basically nothing to help the situation and few Pies supporters would be capable of forming a decent view on the situation.

I hope they prove me wrong but I'm already bracing myself for the boos and abuse from Pies supporters on Friday week. Of course we'll be ready for it.....
God help whoever sits in my vicinity and boos Goodesy.
After I bitch slap them, I'll be turfed out.
    It'll be worth it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Oh, Annie, if it's a man, just go the accidental elbow to the testicles.
'Oh sorry mate, I was just turning around to see what all that noise was about and somehow I whacked you in the nuts. They say that Tiger Balm is good for that sort of injury: I've got some in my bag if you want some?'

Then I'll be booed for playing dirty (fully acceptable practice in a game of footy).
We don't get a lot of riff-raff pies supporters up in the Brewongle stand. The seats are too expensive and the dole only goes so far....

Its actually interesting to go back on the history of all this, and see where this started.

Round 9 2013 is the Collingwood game. Goodes never played another game in Melbourne after that game until round 6 2014 against Melbourne where he comes on as the sub. From my memory there was no booing of Adam that day. We then play Essendon in round 9 at Docklands, and this is where it all started. I remember being at that game, and kept asking people had Adam hit someone behind the play, the booing was loud and unrelenting every time Adam went near the ball. (even though stats tell us he only had 7 disposals on the day) He was eventually subbed out of the game. I recall there being an uproar in the media about the booing.

So whilst Hawthorn took this to another level, Essendon and their fans instigated it. Everyone seems to have forgotten the Essendon supporters behaviour during the Docklands game in 2014. This to me was when the racially based booing of Goodes took off.

And yes they are another club that has remained silent on the issue, then and now.

Do you know if round 9, 2014 was the indigenous round ?

Don't think so. Didn't we play Geelong in last year's indigenous round (the thumping)?

Edit: Here's a report (complete with appropriate picture) to confirm we did play the Cats in indigenous round last year.

That is my recollection. I recall my kids (and partner) asking me; "Why are they booing Goodesy?". It was ferocious against Adam that night. That was also the day they booed an umpire who went down and was stretchered off. And Hanners copped it from the moment he legitimately bumped a Bomber (Hurley, I think).

I was at that Essendon game and if I remember correctly Goodes received a free kick which they thought was soft and the booing became more prominent. They also booed Hanners after the bump on Hurley and they then went even more nuts towards the umpires. Troy Pennell the umpire was concussed after running into Malceski and the crowd cheered and then booed him when he was carried off. Very classy!

I think the only people to comment about the booing issue from Essendon and Hawthorn were Goddard and Lewis on AFL360. I don't remember hearing anything from their hierarchy. Considering the hawks were the main instigators of the booing starting with the GF and then round 8, I think that is very poor.

But really the main instigators of the booing are the media people who have participated in the character assassination of Adam from the MCG event to now.

I was there that night, and the Bummers fans were in a nasty mood to put it nicely.

Just remember their - #whateverittakes and that's all you need to know about the Bombers.

Our 'Boo a Roo' campaign from 2001 has been brought up a few times recently to accuse the club of hypocrisy. From memory I seem to recall a lot of internal opposition to that campaign, and as far as I remember it was ditched.

Can anyone remember what happened with that campaign and am I right to recall the opposition to it from within?

The boo a roo campaign was organised by (I think) the club in response to the shinboners thinking about moving permanently to Sydney.
                              We didn't like it.
                              Not one little bit.

                              Ah the memories!!
That game when we played the shinboners and 41,500 people chanted "Carey is a wanker" every time he went near the ball. That wasn't bullying though. We were right. He is a wanker.
Another great chant was "there's only one team in Sydney" (to the tune of there's only one Tony Lockett).

                              That was so much fun.

It was, IMO, misconceived and in poor taste. It was also short lived. But it was in response to another club thinking they could fly into Sydney for a few games each year and win the hearts of the Sydney public. It was a response to them poking their toes into what the club perceived to be its exclusive territory. It was also 14 years ago.

Hard to see any reasonable link between that and something that has clearly become personal and vindictive, aimed at one particular player (even before you start to consider who that player is and examine what the motives behind the booing may - or may not - be).
