Watched the 2012 GF on Saturday night. I'm pretty sure I hadn't watched it since last year's debacle. I think I'd forgotten how good AJ is. Composed, good skills, rarely beaten. Clearly took him for granted at the time.

Yeah, I don't think anyone was concerned with out backline three years ago, it is only now that they have gotten a little wobbly that you realise how incredible they were back then, with AJ being a significant part of that.

Wishing him the successful operation he deserves, and would love him to make a full recovery and hopefully playing once again.

Funny that when we all want to hear something so badly, even BF becomes a legitimate source...lol

I so hope it's true, although if he was getting a LARS now, mid season seems a much longer than expected recovery time. Sure, they'll be ultra cautious, but still??

Yes I did hesitate before reporting this but "Bedford" is usually pretty reliable.

From my experience on BF(before I got banned for Hawk-baiting), very reliable.

I hope for him he's able to damn well walk again, let alone play footy...

Yes, "Bedford" is a cranky old curmudgeon who is a very bad judge of people and thinks RWO is a place for elitist wankers, but his inside information about this kind of thing is almost always accurate.

This is from the article on the Swans web site posted today in regards to the first training session -"Alex Johnson was also there in support just seven days after his latest knee reconstruction which should put him on track for a return in 2016."
Great news and I hope he makes a full recovery and gets back on the paddock and fulfilling his true potential.

Everytime I see this thread pushed to the top of the board I get a momentary panicky feeling, prompted by the "nooooo", before realising that "nooooo" is a few years old now. Anyone else think we should change the name of the thread to be a little less alarming? It can still serve as a thread to monitor AJ's progress from his latest reconstruction.

Please do, I thought the same.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I thought the exact thing! 5 seconds of oh no don't tell me something has gone wrong. Not good for the blood pressure. I vote for changing the thread name.

Two votes is enough for me, especially when they agree with me! Consider the name changed. If anyone wants to suggest a different thread name to the one I am about to pick, happy to consider changing it again.

Adam Curley just tweeted that AJ had a hybrid-LARS op...not sure if that has been mentioned yet!
