I wouldn't panic yet. It's only Tuesday. Some "fair-weather supporters" will wait until Thursday to decide whether or not they'll come. Keep in mind that there are 2 NRL SF's playing this weekend at SFS and they'll probably take a lot of potential customers away from the Swans PF.Comment

Barry will no doubt chime in, but I think thats a big disadvantage of ANZ. If it was at the SCG I would already have bought tickets. I'm sure many casual fans would be holding out to see what the weather is doing (at least that was the excuse v Freo).
Basic supply and demand. Anz will never sell out, no risk of not getting a ticket.
Barry as an ANZ member do you need to purchase a reserved seat or can you just walk up on the night?
I'm feeling a little deflated. Was looking forward to being part of a big crowd. And as Meg mentioned I feel for our players.
I'm also really annoyed that I paid $170 for cat 1 when I could have saved money and got cat 5...especially as I am spending so much on flights and accommodation.Comment

But wouldn't the prices still be the same at the SCG? If people would be willing to pay if it was at the SCG then it shouldn't matter that it is ANZ and they should go.

As a result people need to commit their dollars earlier in the week. When it comes to big groups going that has a big flow on effect. I will probably buy tickets on Thursday or maybe even Friday. If the weather had an effect on my intentions to head to the game then the $ I would have already spent at the scg would be at my risk.
The numbers at the last final were embarrassing for the club and the players. Hopefully they dont drop for a prelim final..He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Anz members can reserve or rock up. If you reserve you have better chance at level 4 or 1 wing. Unless its sold out (bledisloe, SOO, nrl granny) ypu can rock up. Level 6 western wing is the overflow for ANZ menbers.

ANZ has averaged over 60k to prelims, so cant blame the AFL just yet. The Norf factor is the killer.
Theyll need to ramp up advertising soon.Comment

If there are only 23,000 sold, it makes the ridiculous situations that some of the folks on this 'ere forum have gone through even harder to explain. One quarter of an 80,000 seat stadium and people having to wait for an hour to buy tickets or be told that they can't sit anywhere near where they want to? Ticketek need to be sorted out by Consumer Affairs or some like agency.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

I hope that is the case. But the changing categories is obviously frustrating members.. Wish the AFL would come out and say something about itComment

There's one simple thing that ANZ is screaming out for?the top deck to be GA $20. You know, the same top deck that is completely closed for all of our H&A Homebush matches these days and was even closed for the QF. Come out to Homebush at a moment's notice, slip us a note, and go & watch the game with your mates, sitting wherever you want up the top. That's how you fill a stadium. Paying massively inflated prices in order to view the game from allocated seats, that are often not even terribly good seats (e.g. the H&A 'red zone' with its obscured view of the entire near wing), where you need to commit days in advance and unless you're highly coordinated you don't get to sit with your mates, is not. As a football-watching market, this is not Melbourne and never will be. In short: you have to encourage and embrace casual supporters who are going for the spectacle, for a fun night out etc. The same people that hardcore supporters call 'bandwagoners'.
The achievement of 70,000+ on two occasions in 2003 was amazing, but have almost become a millstone around the Swans' neck in terms of subsequent comparisons. I don't know what the ticketing plan was for those games, but I wouldn't be shocked if it involved some very generous deals (e.g. schoolkid giveaways etc). And there's nothing wrong with that if the team gets to play in front of a crowd of 70,000 screaming fans; it's better for the club, and better for the image of the club, than getting the same amount of money from 40,000 well-heeled fans. I'm not a part of the virulent anti-Homebush brigade, but the simple fact is: if we can't draw more there than we draw to the SCG, what is the point?Comment
