I can only guess that there plenty of complaints about Cat 4/5 selling out quickly that they released some more from Level 3. I think in the past Level 3 was never in the premier category?Comment

Actually, this is good. Clearly Cat-5 is fully sold and the AFL must have instructed Ticketek to sell the Cat-1 north and south ends as Cat-5 to pick up the slack. While unfortunate for those who paid max price early this morning, it does ensure that those who can't justify (or can't afford) anything higher can still get a ticket. I bet they'll keep going in other areas with Cat-4 and so on. until we have a packed bottom end and empty upper tiers.
Positive news for future years. I sense a big shake up in pricing structure come next year.
Just like it is when there's a change in government, we are seeing some of the fall out from Demetriou's 'legacy'.Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

That's a big generalisation Barry. Numbers will be down, yes, but I don't support such a loose comment. It's been a long time since North have been in a prelim. I have six friends from Adelaide flying up, all north supporters, but never those who would travel to Sydney in any other situation. We'll get a decent crowd, not perfect, but decent enough.Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

We'll I think it is disgusting that you get there at 9.10am, membership in hand and get shafted because there are no $45 seats, no $72 seats and have to buy $102 seats and then cheap seats are available later in the day. it is absolute daylight robbery and I will never buy a ticket on day 1 for a game at ANZ stadium again. it disgusts me and I couldn't afford to really pay that price but desperately wanted to go.Comment

Very fair point Anne! On the venue map when you go in to purchase tickets it is still showing level 3 as Category 1 tickets!! That is some down grade from Cat 1 to Cat 5!!We'll I think it is disgusting that you get there at 9.10am, membership in hand and get shafted because there are no $45 seats, no $72 seats and have to buy $102 seats and then cheap seats are available later in the day. it is absolute daylight robbery and I will never buy a ticket on day 1 for a game at ANZ stadium again. it disgusts me and I couldn't afford to really pay that price but desperately wanted to go.Swannies for life!Comment

Just read this comment underneath an article re ANZ v SCG in SMH. Might be part of the reason Level 4 was hard to get?
"As a 15 year member and an attendee for much longer, I was unable to access the tickets I wanted this morning through Ticketek, due to system problems at their outlets. Despite being at the outlet at 8.15 am with only 2 others before me, I was finally served at 9.35 am and obtained less than optimum tickets in Category 1 at great expense, so don't tell me about more availability at ANZ. So much was blocked off for potential sale to AFL members tomorrow. I am a very unhappy customer indeed. Go Swans"

Hmm yes the ticketing system most definitely needs an overhaul, it's not just an ANZ issue but the AFL needs to seriously look at not just pricing, but how tickets are allocated. I don't think people would object to paying Category 1 for the premium seats, but it defeats the purpose if those premium seats aren't available for selection!!Just read this comment underneath an article re ANZ v SCG in SMH. There's no one to direct our complaints to, this system has been in place for over a decade now and due to the oligopolistic nature of the ticket industry in Australia there is very little incentive for Ticketek to change.Comment

I'm in the same boat as you and not happy at all. I am an AFL member and the email I received from the AFL stated that all AFL members regardless of club support could purchase tickets from 9am Monday. It was mentioned there was an allocated area and when I purchased tickets this morning there was an option to select AFL membership allocation. I decided to choose the swans allocation to make sure I was sitting with swans supporters. As a test my brother selected the AFL membership allocation and the tickets offered were in 105, which I assume is the North area as this is where Freo were sitting. So I don't think they were saving Level 4 for AFL Members.Just read this comment underneath an article re ANZ v SCG in SMH. Might be part of the reason Level 4 was hard to get?

But it does piss me off that they are now offering category 5 price for those good seats when myself and others paid the higher prices based on what was advertised. Obviously the AFL freaked out at there being so many tickets let and they didn't want to be embarrassed. It does show how out of touch the AFL are and that they learnt nothing from 2012.
I just hope for our boys that we can get a decent crowd and provide a hostile atmosphere for the opposition. I haven't come up for a game since the 2005 semi so I am looking forward to being apart of it.Comment
