    Match Thread Sydney v Hawthorn

    No match day thread?

I think we will romp it in. Out to 30 points at half time. Fight off a resurgance in the third and kick away in the last for a 45 point win.

Norm smith to the forgotten man Dsn hannerbry.

    Ah , you've got an itchy trigger-finger there,Baz. It's the adrenalin , you know.

    I say - DRAW !!

Whilst I'm here , RWO-ers , please take good care of your ticket : a neck wallet is a good idea - even for your phone , if you have an e-ticket !
And make sure you take the TICKET , not the agency's receipt !
Easy to make a mistake when you have a bout of GF fever, you know.

I agree about Hanners winning the Norm...his record against the Hawks is awesome. I just hope they don't play that flog Langford on him!

I'd like to see Langford pinged just once for holding the ball or incorrect disposal. The kid is continually conveniently "fumbling" it to his team mates. At least JPK gets his arms up and free to release a proper hand ball.

Usually starts on match day but hey why not, we're all excited.

Here's something to read, analysis of scoring patterns by GF winning teams:

Only three teams in VFL/AFL history have trailed by more than three goals at Quarter Time in the Grand Final and gone on to win. The most recent was Sydney in 2012 who trailled the Hawks by 19 at the first break before rallying in the second term to kick 6.0 to 0.1, eventually going on to win by 10

Not surprisingly it suggests that leading through the game helps your chances! although a strong start and finish seems more important than the middle.

To be honest, I think I'd prefer if it was changed to Hawks or Hawthorn.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He would be well suited to Rugby League with the way he passes it to his teammates. No doubt Stevic will let him get away with it all day long too.

How have our defenders matched up on their forwards so far this season? I imagine Smith on Bruest (I don't know if Cyril will start, and I think Bruest is a better forward than him now), does Rampe get Gunston?

Did Breust expose Nick Smith one-on-one in the air? That kind of worries me.

From memory it happened once, but that was as they were scrambling back after a Swans turnover.

It should be one of these 3:
                            1. Swans v. Hawks
                            2. Sydney v. Hawthorn
                            3. COLAs v. Poo and Wees

Depends on one's state of mind.

And the winner is #2. Good Choice.

Yep, but it was literally 1 on 1 going back with noone within cooee of them. Smith will be back to his smothering glove best tomorrow
