The Herald Sun has been told some agents are exploring the option of Essendon players moving clubs unhindered.
The prospect of claiming a contract breach could also be used in negotiations for managers seeking a trade for a player.
Essendon would not be compensated for the loss of a player who enforced the option.
The Bombers could try to block a player?s departure at the AFL Grievance Tribunal.
Previously, players would have been forced to seek the approval of the AFL Commission to establish that a breach of contract had occurred. The AFLPA has stated it believed @Essendon was in breach of its duty of care to its players during the 2012 season.

Is it really worth getting involved in this mess to recruit someone who still has a 2 year suspension hanging over his head?
I think our club is a little smarter than that.

And that's why I didn't think it could come off. Getting Ryder seems both risky and unlikely. But a year ago, who would thought we could land Tippett and Franklin in consecutive years? Stranger things have happened.

That's true. But if we manage to keep both Pyke, get Ryder and not lose too much, we will truly be the team with the ultimate ability to manage the salary cap.

The resigning of Derricx suggests to me that we have no interest in recruiting a ruckman however (unless of course they can't agree a new deal with Pyke).

I think we should go after Ryder, and assume he has to miss most of 2015 through suspension for drugs.

Pyke will be 32 in 2016, so we will need a replacement ruckman. Ryder will slot in nicely.

Thanks Scott. Fact and Fantasy are on the interchange bench. I sincerely hope that Pyke and a fit Derryx are our 1 and 2 ruckmen in 2015.

Does that mean that any Essendon player who was at the club in 2011 and 2012 can claim a breach of contract and get out of their deals?

This is who the Swans could target and it would cost nothing, but salary cap. These are good players:

              Patrick Ryder
              Michael Hurley
              Cale Hooker
              Jake Carsle
              David Zararkis
              Dyson Heppell

              It?s a buffet, a smorgasbord!

              You Beauty!

The top three targets should be Ryder (Ruckman), Carlisle (Key Back) and David Zarharakis (midfield speed).

I think we only have a chance to get one. Ryder would be the top pick, followed by Carlsile.

It does seem interesting now that management can't agree to a deal with Pyke. Last season they were talking secretly to Buddy. They let Mumford?s contract lapse and did not even talk to him about a new contract.

Could this be happening to Pyke? Who is Ireland secretly talking to?

Zaharakis didn't take drugs, so we might have to trade Mitchell for him.

In fact why don't we get them all, trade out Reid, Smith, Rampe, JPK, Parker ......ect. to make room in the salary cap, then close the academy, move to Melbourne and change our name to the Essendon Football Club. You Beauty!

Is it really far fetched for a recruitment manager to envisage the following plan:

                      - Sign the Bombers best 6 players under 26 years old as delisted free agents.
                      - Trade out five of your better players to create the salary cap room.
                      - pick up an extra 5 first round draft picks for your traded players.

The net result is that the former Bombers players will now be your better players and your current on-field strength would be the equal to last season. The advantage is that you now have an extra 5 first round picks on your list to build the future around.

I don't think the Swans should do this, but I've outlined a plan for Ryder to come to the Swans.

Goodes will be so excited that he will play on.

The Lions appear to have the upper hand on Ryder. GWS had the upper hand on Franklin and we swooped in.

We are poised to shock the competition once again. Watch Eddie go nuts when Ryder comes to the Swans.

Am I missing something here...... or did Essendon fail to deceive the last few seasons, even when under the influence of banned substances - which would suggest to me that many of their players really aren't very good.

What if this year's draft was a dud? Our record with 1st rd picks is pretty appaling as well - we might end up with 5 Ed Barlows :P

Zaharakis isn't that quick , similar to Hanners in pace I would've thought.

Forget Essendon! What about all the young talent that appears to be exiting GWS! Sounds as though they all want to return home to VIC but still might be worth having a crack at 1 or 2 of them! Its a shame for them though and just goes to show all these moron VIC club presidents (yes you eddie!) that how important the academies are as homesickness still does play a part these days! The powerhouse Victorian clubs will all have a feeding frenzy on these talented young kids!

The Essendon investigation is still ongoing and is yet to be finalised.

They have three of the best ten key defensive backs in the AFL (Hooker, Hurley and Carlisle). There ruck division when fully fit is stronger than ours.

Ryder is someone who felt let down by the clubs medical program. He is now concerned for the health of his family.

I want Ryder, but I would love a look at Hooker, Carlisle and Hurley if one were to become a delisted free agent. That could solve some key defensive concerns.
