Your point Wolfie but I did say in an earlier post, I thought they were look alikes. so I'll happily concede on Hewett as I was impressed with him last year and believed he had the goods.

Thanks all you RWO'ers who write these reports and post your thoughts here Gives us interstater's an insight into how the new kids are going. From what you are all saying it would seem we have a very healthy list and round one selection will be very difficult. Thanks again.Comment

my team based on how some of the snrs have come back and also taking into account the continual development of the rookies
on the SCG i would have Tip at FF and rotating thru the ruck definitely (now that his knee looks like he can jump into the ruck again)
obviously different match ups for different teams...........unfortunately I am still not sure about Rohan at the back as he didnt show much in the intra........but time will tell and he is a ready made replacement for Goodes role in 2016 if Goodes retires
2015 Team:
Goodes, Tip, Bird
Jack, Buddy, mcGlynn
Pyke
Kennedy
Parker
Hannes
HarryC
Lloyd
Rampe, Grundy, Macca
Smith, Ted, Shaw
19. Jetta
20. Reid
21. Mitchell
22. Rohan
23. Hiscox - this guy will play games in the Snrs in 2015 and the player that is under massive pressure is Gary Rohan to hold his spot in the 22. Also I think that if we change to a bit more of a Port Adelaide style of game plan in stages of a game we may see Hiscox push out one of our strong in and under players
24. Heeney - no doubt Heeney and Mitchell will be fighting for a spot initially and for me, Mitchell is ready by a length on Heeney, just for nowas Heeney has been off legs a lot this preason
25. Jones - I think Shaw looked still very sharp and commanding in the trials..........so Jones will get his chance in time
26. Melican - very much our next AJ........say no more
27. Towers - wont look out of place and his endurance is now getting there
28. Brandon - BJ is on the rise and as his decision making keeps improving he will be worthy of a spot in the 22.
29. Laidler - it is a shame he has that laid back body language hence why he has such a lovely kick on him but he could certainly be needed in our back 6 rotation depending on how it goes with Reid playing a swingman role
30. Aliir - will anyone be able to stop this guy from featuring in our Snr back line ? he is a seriously exciting defender that may be a 10 year player for the Swans in my opinion. He is well ahead of Grundy and Ted at the same age
31. Robinson - so much like Birdy where they are very strong players but lack speed.........therefore how many slow vs fast players can you have rotating through your midfield is the big question. I dont think against the Hawks or Port in a Finals type game you can carry Parker, Kennedy, Bird, Macca, Mitchell, Robinson etc .........so for Robinson only gets in when we have a couple of injuries to midfielders in Snrs who are a little on the slow side
all other players like TD and X and Naismith etc can step up if need be but the above 9 players would be my picks to step in when needed"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Jeffers photos featuring AA are kind of stunning. The boy has put on weight in the chest and legs, and looks mighty fine. No boy now actually, bit of a bloke.
It will be interesting to see how this crop unfolds. I havent read one totally negative assessment of a new player from the pundits. What is going on!!!If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Jetts is being groomed for down back and I actually believe he will play there. After the Intra the coaches are obviously wanting Jetts back there. Macca might go back occasionally but I think he will be more swing man.
Aliir will play this year and it wouldn't surprise me to see Ted & Reg rested to give them some much needed respite and recovery from injury time (more in Teddy's case).
Melican is on target to play also as you say.
Can't wait to see how they all perform in the first NAB match

AG I'm pretty sure Rohan only played the first half of the intra. I looked for him after half time and couldn't find him. I knew Goodsie had retired as he went straight past me.Comment

I am getting a little tired of the Swans website.
1. The injury list is still last years
2. No real video of the Intra. I don't consider 2.30min of Arty video a real video. For crying out loud half the time I was uncertain what was going on. Bloody disgrace. GWS managed to stream and record their whole match.
3. The player profiles have not been revisited in ages and the new stats (height/weight) are either draft camp or before. They still have the 2014 expectations and not season comment there. No 2015 expectation, no 2014 review. This is pretty slack.
4. The 'Photo Gallery' section has pics of the Golf Day and Wrestling preseason training as the latest pics. Really crap. When they do give pics on the website they are more fit for an arts competition than a football pictorial.
5. There is far too much about the experienced players and not enough about the new and developing players. The fans are interested in those more so at this time of year. It is nice to know Reg has a hobby or Smithy think training is bloody beaut. But what about Melican, Jones, Towers, Nic Newman (had an article on him and it got lost, up again but boy oh boy!).
6. Half the videos are not there either.
I think the Media Dept are very poor, especially for fans.Comment

I would have Craig Bird and Rhyce Shaw as outs.
The club needs to back Tom Mitchell and I think having Mitchell, Parker and Kennedy in the team is enough slower inside midfielders for one game. Bird will come in for one of these guys if they get injured or need a rest.
I would also like to get Heeney in the team and on subs vest early in the year.
My back 7 is:
B Reid Richards Smith
HB Rohan Grundy Rampe
Loose Man
Jetta - Providing the drive and delivery.
Reid - Pending match ups but did some excellent work in filling holes in 2014.
Shaw will come in when there is an injury to one of the medium / small defenders. Jones would also be in the mix to fill in a small / defensive role and can also play as a hard tag defensive player in the midfield
If Richards or Grundy are injured, then Reid would move to a key back position. If another key back goes down then I would bring in Aliir. I would be intrigued to see how Aliir, Reid and Melican play as the three tall defensive backs.Comment

That said, it depends on who uses the Swans site and why. The media department may have a better perspective on what attracts the most and longest hits on the site.
I don't know the answer there, but I do believe we should provide constructive feedback when we can. Send Jenny a PM.

not sure if you got along to the game on fri night but Shaw isnt missing a beat and then some
I was urring towards Jones and or Jetts to spend come more time in the backs with Macca once i heard Mal had left BUT Shaw is rising to the occasion and he lead off the ball numerous times when our players should have given the ball to him on Fri night over and above his strong game
I can see an argument of "will another young player be ready come finals if they have alot of game time in 2015" to take on this role but Rhys is holding his own and then some right now.....like Adam he for me holds an important role within the 22 and staring in my opinion
Another fair argument is "do we have enough counter attack from our backline to compete against the backs rotation of the Hawks".........i would argue the Hawks backs rotation is still superior which leads us into a fair argument on what will be that backline rotation that will have enough punch for a finals series win?
BUT i must say Jetta kept leading deeper and deeper into our backline in 2014 and on friday night he looks like a Daniel Pearse from Freeo in that he could become a significant play maker from the backs in 2015 !"be tough, only when it gets tough"

AG Robbo didn't play mids in the match. They played him on the flank. Then at FF. He played a little up the ground on the wing in the third then went forward again. I thought him really good. His kicking, especially for goal is tops.
AG I'm pretty sure Rohan only played the first half of the intra. I looked for him after half time and couldn't find him. I knew Goodsie had retired as he went straight past me.
For me Wolf i dont rate him in comparison to our other options like KJ and McGlynn etc
it will be interesting to watch his evolvement in the forwards though"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Worth getting that feedback through to the Club. Some valid points, particularly point 5. There's plenty of media on our star players. What gets me excited are prospects, potential. Most people wouldn't get to see a reserves match in action, so any shortfall of coverage on our younger prospects is a big void.
That said, it depends on who uses the Swans site and why. The media department may have a better perspective on what attracts the most and longest hits on the site.
I don't know the answer there, but I do believe we should provide constructive feedback when we can. Send Jenny a PM.

In relation to the website. The Swans Reserves receives by far the highest traffic. This should be proof to the guys in Swans Media that the supporters want to find out more about our youth.Comment

I view Rhyce Shaw in competition with Rohan for a flanker spot. Smith and Rampe are automatic selections. Reid may play more back, which ties up a spot. Jetta and McViegh are the quarterback options.
When I think about Rohan I keep coming back to that Prelim Final game against North. He totally destroyed Aaron Black and his game was described by Wayne Carey as the best game he had seen by a half-back flanker. That is what he is capable of. Sometimes his confidence suffers a little, but his ceiling is enormous. Some of his tackles, defensive pressure and spoils are amazing. Due to his pace, height and leap he can also play 3rd defensive tall if required. Shaw can't play on 190cm plus players.
Rhyce Shaw is still very proficient as AFL level and can still play some good games.
I would also back Rohan because of the potential run out of defence he could provide with Rampe, Smith and Jetta. That combination of running and delivering the ball out of defence could strike as much fear into the opposition as our key forwards.Comment
