I'm in Wolfie's camp for selection these days we need to pick teams that will win matches on the day.
The ball is going to be spending 90% of the time on the deck and we need clean handlers:

    B: Smith Richards Laidler
    HB: Rampe Grundy McVeigh
    C: Hannabery Mitchell Jetta
    HF: Rohan Franklin Cunningham
    F: Bird Goodes Heeney
    Ruck: Pyke Parker Kennedy
    Res: Jetta Reid Lloyd
    Sub: Tippett
    Jetta's going to be busy.
Replace one of your Jetta's with a Tower... Tippett to come on for Goodes in the third quarter, and I'm with you.

Hopefully the weather won't be to bad.

Either way the ground will be a paddock after Fridays nights NRL and stand movements....At least our guys have dealt with that before.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Huh interesting, I thought Naismith was pretty aggressive, but couldn't keep up aerobically. I think this was the Dockers game if I recall correctly

That is not actually correct. There was insufficient evidence the players knew they were taking a banned substance. that is what got them off. It was a Kangaroo Court anyway. The AFL fixed the result. Essendon has misused it's players by giving them substances that haven't been trialled or passed for human use. They also gave the players a medication for a particular disease none of the players had. That is why I called them a disgrace. If I had a son who was good enough for AFL I would certainly not want him anywhere near Essendon.

Insufficient evidence in court is still classified as not guilty.

The umpire has made the call. It's time to move on.

Any Swans member who calls out "Drug Cheat" to an Essendon player should have their membership torn up.

            Slander is not acceptable.

The umpire has made the call. It's time to move on. At this stage yes, but wait and see.

Any Swans member who calls out "Drug Cheat" to an Essendon player should have their membership torn up. Agree that they shouldn't call out but let them keep their membership. A reminder of manners would be in order.

              Slander is not acceptable.
Agree totally. Jovial banter would be more appropriate.

Do you live in Sydney? A shower or two can be a deluge in two parts. It can rain more in one hour than it does in a week in Melbourne. Other than that the ground is going to be a bloody disgrace once again because of being used for NRL on Friday and raining. In those circumstances ANZ is not only a disgrace it is downright dangerous. We need to make sure we have the right players to play on that surface. In the game against GWS at the Showgrounds we played some very iffy players. Unfit, finished and underdone players. If we had tried a few of the young blokes like Lloydy we might have done a bit better. We need to be careful how we approach this game. Pick players who match up well and may have an edge on their opponents.

The club has not been deemed innocent they have been found guilty by a previous decision with bringing the game into disrepute. It was not a court anyway it was an AFL Tribunal. It can't be a court because the people sitting in judgement are not qualified to do so in a court. There was only one legal eagle on the panel and he was David Jones QC, the others were two ex players. By the way a QC cannot sit in judgement in a court unless he/she has been appointed a magistrate, Judge or similar. Hence my reference to 'Kangaroo Court.

                      Well explained mate.

                      I'm pumped for Saturday.

I will be taking my four year to the football for the first time. He only knows Franklin and Tippett's names. Hopefully he learns some more names.

I'm also hoping the crowd does not yell out too many crude terms. He repeats everything!

Are you Red Zone? I'll be spending most of the time at the Members Bar I think, explaining the rules of the game to 2 first-timers. Will try and get some seats up the front hah but good luck lol

I have reserved seats in gate K. Not sure if that's the Red Zone.

I've just told my little boy a bed time story about how we are going on the train to Homebush to watch Franklin on Saturday.

                          He replies "is Franklin broken".

He had seen that Gary Rohan collision and thought that Franklin may not be fixed yet.

                          How cute!

Forecast rainfall amount is between 0-3mm if that helps, so a deluge is unlikely.

Wondered what happened to Towers. He can also ruck if needed HEHE, he did last year for a quarter & a half. I like a more streamlined side for this game. I don't think we can play both Shaw & Laidler or Laidler & Rohan. I think Rohan is better down back bursting out of defence. But on the weekend if it is too wet that might be a reason to play Laids and switch Rohan to the HF. So many things the coaches have to think about. Weather, Essendon personnel, ground conditions, our players niggles, tactical moves to confuse them, clearances and stoppages, defence strategies, forward strategies, disposal technique, goal kicking, run & carry, who plays well in the wet, game style for the conditions. So much to get right before you even step on the park and the match ups are most important. Get those wrong and you could find yourself in the poo.

5-10ml on my forecast. So not a lot but you never know with Sydney. I don't trust forecasts at all. They said scattered showers for a match two years ago which normally means less than 10ml and light. It poured, the roof was leaking, the rain came in sideways and drenched anyone in the first 10 rows. So you never know.
