Just saw some footage on TV news. Didn't look too bad actually, seemed as if they were having less rain out there than in the CBD. But I could see lots of divots being kicked up in the closing few minutes.
And a thrown bottle hit one of the refs as he was leaving the field which is pretty appalling.

Pretty much exactly what was said of Mitchell a couple of years ago. We haven't even had one game this year and poor Tom is already written off.

The ground looked ok on Telly - but there'll be a fair bit more rain and moving those stands back could reveal who knows what....

Best thing tomorrow would for that cow paddock to be declared unplayable. I am expecting a serious injury to someone on that shifting surface.

"Sydneysiders heading out to the Easter Show at Sydney Olympic Park should expect soggy rides and mud in the show barns."
"Friday has had fairly steady light rain, but on Saturday there will probably be heavy falls in Sydney," senior Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Neale Fraser said.
"It won't be a good day for the Easter Show tomorrow."
Oh what a wonderful way to start the season!

I thought it looked it's terrible self....The grass is way too long for Aussie rules.

When the camera zoomed in, the surface looked chopped up and uneven.

And, as you say, who knows what the surface under the stands will be like.....Add to that, an inch or two more rain...

I'm expecting nothing more than a, bash and crash, crap shoot...

At least our players have experienced this rubbish surface before, and should know what to expect....Maybe that will provide some sort of perverse advantage.

Happened to find myself in Adelaide without a TV and a not reliable internet connection later in the evening. Is there a Swans friendly pub somewhere? Cheers

You might get a better response than this but if not try the Arkaba Hotel 150 Glen Osmond Road Fullarton. That's where the SA Swans Supporter Group meet to watch Swans games. There is a schedule on the Swans website for their meetings which says Round 1 is not a scheduled get together (because of Easter) but suggesting those interested might still like to go there. So you might meet like-minded fans there.

I'm not writing Tom off. I want him to succeed at the Swans. He is a terrific young man.

All I'm saying is that we have amazing depth in Mitchell's inside midfielder extractor position.

He will come in today for sure.

I would withdraw both Reid and Grundy and bring in Robinson and Mitchell.

Garry Rohan can play as a tall defender as marking overhead will be impossible and speed and agility to the loose ball is paramount.

At what point do they need to declare which emergencies are playing?

Firstly my condolences. What a place to be on a public holiday
Maybe post where you plan to go as others might join you.
So long as the Swans aren't playing the Crows or Port, most places are Swans friendly.
There's one on Henley Beach Rd - I think it's the Hotel Royal, just opposite the Torrensville shopping centre - if you're west of the city?

100 percent chance of rain all day every hour according to iphone weather. It's not gonna be pretty.

Yeah pack a snorkel if you have one....

100% chance of rain and 99.3% chance of Mitchell coming in to today's team.

I think it has to be done when they had the teams in about an hour before the match.
