3 hours of boredom for 10 minutes excitement. Congrats to the 20,000 members who boycotted the game and showed the afl we wont tollerate drugs in sport. Disappointed 23,000 turned up. 23k too many but at least they booed hird.

From where I was sitting it didn't look like the Bombers ran out of legs. We just played poorly for 3 quarters but out best is as good as anyone. When we turn it on, we are formidable. We just don't always do it (eg GF 2014) but we have won a number of games with one incredible quarter of football.
& Goodsey is in the twilight of his career. A cameo player who when he's on he can turn a game in a short period. When he's off, he will still demand attention ensuring a lesser light player can have less attention and the other forwards or mids (depending where he's playing) can step up to cover his output a bit. I can still see a role for him & IMO he's not quite the same as the ROKComment

Unusual to experience such despondency and jubilation in the same game. We were lucky to be playing a team without conditioning, but it was a valuable experience, which will hopefully focus the lads after an aimless beginning.
Despite the win, there were too many players without sufficient hardness. Cunningham, Towers, Jetta, Reid, Rohan are on-field introverts and not physically damaging players. I don't think they can all start. Of them, Cunningham probably disappointed me the most. Looks well down on confidence, as demonstrated by his goal-kicking. I was surprised that Jake Lloyd was sub (thought perhaps because of his injury), but he has superior composure and smarts to all of those players. It will be great to have McGlynn and McVeigh back. Rohan and Jetta were decent in the final quarter.
Heeney has sufficient hardness. Awesome debut. Such composure. Parker kept us in it until he went off. So pleased by Jack's final quarter - needs more four quarter performances like that. Joey like a metronome. Rampe hard and useful in the midfield. Laidler excellent and important. Bud and Tippett were the difference in the end.
Goodsey looks shot. Hopefully it's cobwebs. Worrying.Comment

+1. Mitchell MUST play next week! I see very little from either Cunningham or Towers to justify their spot in the side.Comment

My little boy and my wife were at their first Swans game and got an almighty thrill. My wife loved it and wants to keep coming.
The class of Tippett and Franklin won the game in the last quarter. That's why they are paid the big money.Comment

Everyone is fantastic!I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

If both McVeigh and McGlynn are available then one will be the sub (probably Mcglynn).
I would keep Cunningham in because his leg speed is required against the Port runners.
Even though he was good, I think Laidler could be out because of the need to keep quicker players in the side against Port.
Heeney also nailed six tackles. I liked that strong overhead mark in the 2nd quarter. I think he should be made the sub every 3-4 weeks to manage his work load as he is still 18.Comment

Watch out !
It may not be over yet ?
I hear Hird is very confident of an appeal being successful !Comment

A few have been hard on Goodesy. It was a wet game and didn't really suit his style. I don't know that he has ever been good in the wet. I wouldn't be jumping off him yet. Jetta also; he wasn't recruited as a hard nut and never will be. He is an outside runner and he certainly wasn't our worst player.Comment
