Dan was interviewed on SEN radio and said that he has not had any talks about coming back to Melbourne. He is still contracted to the Swans and he loves living in Sydney and seems to indicate that he isn't homesick at all. So these so rumors about returning back are false and news to him.

Adding to this he also said, "I'm contracted for two years", so not happening unless the club allows it. This fits with the earlier posts that indicated he was contracted to the end of 2016.

Trade Hanners? Never! Besides, who else could Ireland pimp out to lure Rance? Heeney? Ain't sure thats legal!
This club owes Daniel Hannebery more than it will ever realize and more than some will ever admit. Should he long to return home for family, then he'll leave with my very best wishes. Otherwise, we should do everything possible to keep him. He is the glue that holds our team together, we need him. He is a Blood and his best is yet to come.Comment

Hey guys and girls, and this is a fact. Dan Hannebery?s North Bondi house will go under the hammer on May 7. Just wanted to add a fact occasionally, generally just waffle from me!!!. No conspiracy theory....Comment

Amazed that so many major media 'analysts' didn't have Hanners in the votes from Saturday night, Neil Cordy was one and the Sunday Footy Show another...thought he was clearly best on ground.Twitter @cmdil

Nothing to see here. Keep walking.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The reality is that for Hanners to go to another club in Melbourne for head turning money it will probably be a club where he will have next to no chance of winning a flag again.
We have been innovative in many ways with list management - we have mastered the art of recycling players and also are one of the best clubs in terms use of the rookie list. Our recruitment of Buddy and KT via free agency has also been head turning.
I can see a list management strategy developing along the lines of Malceski whereby players seek a final big pay day in their late 20s or early 30s after they have won their flags here and after we have pretty much taken their best years.
I'd think Hanners sees Sydney as by far the best place for him to win a flag. If suspect he'd sign on for another couple of years provided the money was thereabouts and then seriously look at going home in 2019.
We have really great balance in our list - you'd think that McVeigh and McGlynn (30 this year) only have a couple of seasons in them and I fear we have seen the best of Keiran Jack too. If their last seasons were 2017 that would co-incide nicely with the new generation of Mills, Dunkley and Heeney. A couple pf KPDs would be nice though
Of course this yet again highlights the huge potential advantage we have of having as many Sydney boys in the side as possible as I really cannot see home grown Sydney players yearning to play in Melbourne. And by definition the AcademyComment

For Melbourne boys I can see the attraction but I just think that people growing up in Sydney generally like it here.
They get to experience that side of the game when they play there but they also don't have the intrusion into their lives. I think that by the time most players are in the back half of their 20s that side of things is less of an attraction but staying with family and friends is

I think the Sydney players get quite well looked after endorsement wise hereComment
